FELONY ARRESTS

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh city police arrested an Alburg, Vt., man for damaging a handicapped ramp early Saturday morning. Police say Kyle Tatro, 22, was pulling sections off the handrail of a handicapped ramp at the Boule Family Dentistry at 134 Brinkerhoff St. at about 1:44 a.m. Tatro was arrested for criminal mischief third, a felony. He was arraigned Saturday morning, when he was released on his own recognizance to face a future court appearance.

PLATTSBURGH — State Police in Plattsburgh arrested a woman for felony driving while intoxicated after another motorist called about her erratic driving. Police said Ruth Kelley, 43, from West Chazy was driving westbound on Wallace Hill Road at about 9 p.m. when she drove her rented 2012 Toyota Corolla into a ditch while attempting to turn into a driveway. Another motorist was following her at the time, talking to police on a cell phone. When police arrived they arrested Kelley for aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony, based on a prior conviction in 2009. She was arraigned in Plattsburgh town court before Town Justice James Joyce, where she was released on her own recognizance to return to court on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

  BOAT FIRE

WESTPORT — An Essex couple sustained minor burns when the alcohol cooking stove they were lighting on their boat blew up at the Westport Marina. The Westport Fire Department and ambulance were called to the marina at about 9 a.m. Sunday. Both were treated at the scene and released. The boat they were on sustained minor damage from the explosion. The U.S. Coast Guard in Burlington was notified of the explosion but did not respond. Names of the couple involved were not available.
