Photo/Franklin County Historical and Museum Society The grandeur of the Ferguson House at the intersection of Main and Elm streets, known as Howard Place, can be seen in this early photograph with dirt and cobblestone streets and horse and buggy. Several shops and the grand old hotel were destroyed by fire on Jan. 28, 1888, also killing one of the shop keepers.
