WEST PLATTSBURGH — The race for first place during the first half of the Adirondack Slo-Pitch Softball League regular season at Legion Post 1619 is shaping up to an extremely close one.
Defending A Division champion Coors Light was the lone unbeaten team remaining prior to a 9-8 setback to longtime rival Norm Baker & Sons/Post 1619 this past week.
Five teams now have one loss, with Big Earl’s Restaurant leading the way with an 8-1 mark.
Next in line are the Bandag Brewers (7-1), Northern Corridor (6-1), World Warehouse (6-1) and Coors Light (6-1).
Baker’s/Post 1619 (4-2) is the lone team in the league with two losses.

AuSable firefighters lead county league
AUSABLE FORKS — AuSable Forks defeated Ellenburg Depot last week to improve to 4-0 and remain the only unbeaten team in the Clinton County Firefighters Softball League. Mike Mitchell was the winning pitcher.
CVPH (1-2) picked up its first win of the season and, in the process, handed West Chazy/Beekmantown (3-1) its first setback.
Michelle Hitt and Cory Thompson were both 3-for-4 in support of wining pitcher Kent Faus while Roy Clark contributed a key double.
South Plattsburgh and District 3 were rained out while Saranac/Dannemora had the bye.
