Tolosky nets two, including game-winner, for Hornets

TUPPER LAKE — Jack Tolosky's goal with 6:26 left in regulation broke a 3-all tie and lifted Plattsburgh High School to a 4-3 non-league boys' hockey win over Tupper Lake on Saturday.

Tolosky, who scored two goals and added two assists, and John Fine-Lease tallied goals to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead.

The Lumberjacks, however, rallied for a 3-2 edge on a goal by John Bujold and two by Bryce Guerette. Guerette's second goal made it 3-2 with 40 seconds gone in the third.

Alex Maston then tied it at 5:50 of the third, setting the stage for Tolosky's game-winning marker.

Robby Knowles turned aside 18 shots in net for PHS, which held a 31-21 shot advantage.

"We're trying to get over some sickness, bumps and bruises — and get ready for the playoffs," PHS coach Jamie Reidy said.

"I was happy with the victory today. Tupper Lake had a lot of energy and played hard."

PLATTSBURGH — Chase Godfrey, Clark Grabb and Connor Lind scored goals to lead Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa to a non-league victory over the Chiefs.

Jeff Kurz scored the lone goal for Saranac with 5:54 gone in the third period.

Zach Lareau made 46 saves in net for the Chiefs, who were outshot by a 49-26 margin.

"We didn't have a game all week and skated hard in practice," Saranac coach Ed Davis said. "We have a lot of potential, but I was disappointed with some of our effort today.

"We lost Matt McCasland to an injury in the first period and that's a big lost for us. We started applying some pressure in the third period but it was too little, too late."

The Chiefs have a busy week ahead with three games, starting with Monday in Lake Placid.
