---- — Annual Quilt Show planned in Vermont
SHELBURNE, Vt. — The 30th-annual Quilt Show is set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 and 21, at the Field House of Shelburne, 166 Athletic Drive.
The event, sponsored by the Champlain Valley Quilters’ Guild of Vermont, is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 20 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21. Features include an array of contemporary and traditional quilts on display, a silent auction, crafts for sale, vendors, a raffle quilt, “Vermont Traditions” challenge quilts, a cafe and free parking. Exhibits include “A Sampling of Quilts from the Vermont Historical Society,” Nola A. Forbes’s “Rural Vermont Legacy” quilts and “Transplanted Traditions: Somali Bantu Needlework in VT.”
Admission is $6, and free for children under 12.

Talk focuses on preparing garden for winter
WEST CHAZY — Jolene Wallace will discuss steps to take this fall to get gardens ready for winter at “Putting Your Garden to Bed,” from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22.
Wallace is the horticulture program assistant for Cornell Cooperative Extension in Clinton County.
The free event will be held at the Dodge Library, 9 Fiske Road.
