---- — Casey Dupell of Morrisonville, son of Dana and Mary Dupell, became a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor at Airline Transport Professionals in North Carolina. He is training others to fly at the Potsdam Airport, as well as booking private lessons locally. After acquiring the necessary flight hours, Dupell intends on applying for a pilot position at a mid-size commercial airline.
Andrew Chevalier became a doctor of naturopathic medicine at ceremonies held June 30 in Portland by the National College of Natural Medicine. Chevalier is a 2003 graduate of Chazy Central Rural School and a 2007 graduate of SUNY Cortland. He is the son of David and Brenda Chevalier of Rindge, N.H., and formerly of Chazy. His grandparents are Evelyn Gonyo of Mooers and the late Arnold Gonyo and the late Andrew and Stella Chevalier, formerly of Rouses Point. Chevalier will be joining a naturopathic medical practice in Peterborough, N.H., in the fall.
The Alice Hyde Medical Center Auxiliary has awarded the Thelma Benware Scholarship to Megan Liechty, a 2012 graduate of Saranac Central School. She has begun the Health Studies Program at Clinton Community College and will continue her studies to become a registered nurse. Liechty is the daughter of Sam and Rhonda Liechty of Morrisonville. This scholarship was established in memory of Thelma Benware, who was an licensed practical nurse at Alice Hyde Medical Center for many years.
