Novel-writing workshop Saturday

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts will host a workshop to help participants prepare for National Novel Writing Month from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.

The event, called NaNoWriMo, encourages people to challenge themselves to write a novel of 50,000 words in 30 days.

While the program requires that writers write their novels during November, preparation for the novel can happen prior to that month. The workshop will give participants an introduction to the program, information about planning and strategies for “winning” the month. Everyone who reaches the word count is a winner of the program. The workshop will be led by Amanda Kaufman, a two-time winner of NaNoWriMo.

The workshop is $25 or $20 for members of the NCCCA.
