Teaching artists sought to workwith seniors

PLATTSBURGH — Lifetime Arts Inc. is seeking experienced teaching artists in all disciplines to conduct a series of classes for older adults in public libraries within Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.

Workshops may be offered either once or twice a week from April 1 to Oct. 31, 2013. A minimum of eight sessions is required.

Artists will be working in collaboration with library directors in libraries that are members of the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System, which is a rural partner in this project. The goal of these programs is to facilitate arts learning and provide older adults with meaningful social interaction. Each series must conclude with a public event, such as an art show of works created, a reading or performance. Selected teaching artists will receive an instructional fee in addition to being paid for preparation time and planning. This is a pilot project with an opportunity to expand.

Interested applicants should submit a resume with teaching experience and an artist statement, which includes your interest and/or experience in working with older adults. Nonprofit arts organizations with arts-education capabilities are also encouraged to submit. Use “CEF Teaching Artist” as the subject line, and send application to efriedman@lifetimearts.org. For questions, call (914) 355-2304.
