Artists Market seeking vendors

PLATTSBURGH — The first NCCCA Artist Market will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts, 23 Brinkerhoff St., Plattsburgh.

The event is an opportunity for local artists to display and sell their fine-art work.

The NCCCA Artist Market was born out of the former NCCCA gift shop that allowed members to sell and display their artwork. The new Artist Market will allow non-member and member artists alike to participate by selling their products. The hope is that the concept will be embraced by artists and become a community-building experience throughout the year.

The market will not only be filled with artists but also family activities, class demonstrations, silent auction/raffle and food and drink sold by NCCCA.

People who are interested in being a vendor must fill out an application by Jan. 5; only 22 vendor slots are available.

For more information, call 563-1604 or email gallery@plattsburgharts.org.

New music class for tots offered

PLATTSBURGH — The NCCCA Arts Center has a new music offering called “Music for Small Hands.”

This weekly program is designed for children 6 months through 3 years and their parents. Each class combines music and movement for a creative and interactive session.

The class will be taught by Josh Meyer, a musician and local math and science teacher at Chazy Central School who grew up in Plattsburgh. Meyer plays upwards of 25 musical instruments and has worked with young musicians and their families for the past seven years.

Music for Small Hands begins Wednesday, Jan. 9, and will continue through Feb. 13. The first session, for children ages 6 to 18 months, will run from 5 to 5:30 p.m. The second session, for 18 months to 3 years, will run from 5:35 to 6:05 p.m.

The cost for the six-week course is $60 or $55 for members of the Arts Center. A parent must attend with the child.
