Former Beekmantown standout Shana Fessette, a senior at Lock Haven (Pa.) University, is named to the Third Team Div. II All-America in women's volleyball.
Joe Kourofsky comes up with 20 points, 8 steals and 4 assists as Northern Adirondack topples previously unbeaten PHS 54-51.
Brian Mason, trailing 4-2, records a pin with 58 seconds left to send NAC on to a 42-28 win over Peru in a battle of wrestling unbeatens. Brad Malark also picks up a key decision for the Bobcats while Troy Rabideau and Ryan Pike add pins. Josh Rock and Morgan Remillard win by fall for Peru.
Aimee Marsh scores 24 points to lead Westport to a 66-23 win over Lake Placid in a meeting of basketball unbeatens.
Eric Taft scores 2 field goals in overtime to lift Peru past Saranac 65-63.
Lake Placid, down 15 at the half, rallies to beat Westport 54-49 with Aaron Greene netting 29 for the Blue Bombers. Rob Hipps leads the Eagles with 18.

20 YEARS AGO (1992)
Westport's Julie Moore becomes the first Section VII basketball player to surpass 2,000 points for a career.
Seton Catholic's Jeremy Carter and Chris Sweisz are named New York State First Team All-Stars for Class B football. Moriah's Alan Arno lands on the First Team for Class C-D while Saranac Lake's D.J. Austin is tabbed for the Second Team Class C-D and Moriah's Mike Callahan, the Third Team Class C-D.
Erik Sheffield's basket with 30 seconds left enables Lake Placid to hold on for a 58-57 win over Elizabethtown-Lewis. David DuBois scores 31 points for the Blue Bombers, who nearly let a 16-point lead slip away. Dan Barnhart paces the Lions with 21 points.
Carrie Nutt comes up with 8 steals and the Cougar defense frustrates the Sentinels as Northeastern Clinton edges Ticonderoga 44-40. Becky Peeters and Cathy Jzyk both net 19 points for Ticonderoga.
Doug Allen tallies 29 points in rallying Crown Point to a 45-40 win over Chazy.

Peru's Tony Montemorra, who set CVAC career records with 2,754 yards total offense and 41 touchdowns, is named to the First Team All-State in football. Ticonderoga's Bob Porter is picked for the Fourth Team while Beekmantown's Charlie McCormick lands on the Fifth Team.
Roland Blaise's goal with 2:34 left gives MAI a 7-6 upset of St. John's in hockey.
Karen Ashley scores 27 points and grabs 11 rebounds in Beekmantown's 48-38 win over PHS. Alyce Mackey leads the Hornets with 14 points.
Kory Stone, John Bushey, Glen Laventure and Chad Welch score goals in Northeastern Clinton's 4-2 come-from-behind win over Saranac Lake. Ron Coulombe records 35 saves in the win. Matt Laramee scores twice for Saranac Lake.
John Santor drops in 27 points to lead AuSable Valley to a 75-61 win over Beekmantown.

MAI's Lisa Momot wins the giant slalom and places second in the slalom in scholastic alpine ski competition at Big Tupper. Teammate Brad Jessey grabs a third in the boys' slalom.
Chris Speziali scores 23 points, Rich Hall adds 18 and Galen Wanits, Bernie Colburn and Steve Marnell dominate the boards in Schroon Lake's 84-81 triple-overtime win over previously unbeaten Dannemora. Ken Recore and Steve LaDuke each net 21 for the Knights.
Frank Gardner scores 14 points while Pat Hogan and Paul St. Mary chip in with 11 apiece to lead unbeaten Malone to a 48-35 win over Saranac Lake. Brian Higgenbotham scores 17 for the Redskins.
Ed Pepper's 5 points in the second overtime help MAI to a 63-60 win over Moriah. Peter Shene scores 21 points to go with 17 rebounds for the Mounties while Dan Scoresome leads the Vikings with 15.

Jim Millie scores 18 points to lead unbeaten AuSable Valley to a 67-50 triumph over NCCS. Rick Morrison leads the Cougars with 20.
Paul Trombley is named the Outstanding Wrestler while teammate Gerald Sopher records the most pins, least time on the mat in leading AuSable Valley to the team title in the NAC Tournament. Mike Ashline, Dave Holdridge, Bill Clodgo and John Doner all pick up pins for the Patriots.
Chris Murnane tallies 24 points in St. John's 72-56 win over MAI. Wayne Trombley leads the Mounties with 15.
Columbia-Greene CC turns back Clinton CC 64-59 despite Ronnie Rabideau's 25-point effort for the Cougars.

Dave Durham fires in 32 points and Don Connors chips in with 11 as St. Joseph's edges St. John's 62-60 in overtime in a battle of unbeatens. Bryan Holt leads the Irish with 21 points while Carl Leahy and Pat Gregory each score 11.
Gary Hathaway, at 120 pounds, does not allow a point for his fourth straight match as AuSable Forks ties Ellenburg 26-26 in wrestling. Don Muzzy and Bob Betters pick up pins for the Forks while Bob Sunderland, Mickey Spoor, Bill Taylor and Dick LeClair win by fall for Ellenburg.
Dannemora overcomes Elmon Henry's 27-point scoring spree to shade Saranac 56-55. Vern King leads the Black Knights with 14 points.
Bob Mitchell tosses in 20 points and Ralph Paden contributes 18 to spark Mineville to a 55-42 win over Elizabethtown. Leo Aubin leads E'town with 11.

Karkoski scores 11 points and E. Hargett, 10, to lead Mineville to a 38-25 upset of previously unbeaten Plattsburgh High. Marv Hendricks nets 12 for PHS.
Powers pours in 37 points to spur Lyon Mountain to a 79-59 win over Dannemora. LaForest scores 16 in a losing cause.
Bob Moore of Plattsburgh and Ed McLane of Lake Placid are members of Bob Axtell's ski team at Paul Smith's College.

LaRose hits for 33 points and Les Bouyea, 23, in Morrisonville's 78-33 win over St. Mary's.
Jarvis scores 13 points and Liposeck, 12, as St. John's downs Lyon Mountain 36-30. Thompson leads the Miners with 12.
