10 YEARS AGO (2002)

▶ Joel Siskavich records 36 saves and James Reardon scores from Chris Roach to give Seton Catholic a 1-0 win over St. Joseph's of Buffalo. In the tournament final, Matt LeClair's goal in the seventh shootout lifts the Knights to victory over host Massena.

▶ Chris Henderson sweeps the 55-meter hurdles, 300-meter dash and the triple jump to lead the Peru boys to the Section VII team title while eighth-grader Emily Medeiros takes first in the 1,000, second in the 1,500 and third in the 3,000 to lead the Saranac girls to the crown.

▶ Burton Rockwell decisions his opponent to win the 139-pound title at the Vermont Golden Gloves.

▶ Adam Porter sinks two free throws with 10 seconds left and then blocks a shot to give Ticonderoga a 45-44 win over Seton Catholic and the CVAC Div. II title.

Erika Covey pours in 30 points to lead Beekmantown to a 58-54 victory over Saranac Lake. Danielle Granish scores 18 for the Red Storm.

▶ Aaron Greene comes up with 28 points and 22 rebounds in Lake Placid's 58-38 triumph over Willsboro.

20 YEARS AGO (1992)

▶ Corey West nails a 3-pointer with two seconds left to give Malone a 53-51 win over Gouverneur.

▶ Sean McLaughlin tallies 28 points as Ticonderoga clinches the CVAC Div. II title with a 59-48 win over Northern Adirondack.

▶ Ed Lockwood knocks in Jay Quenville's rebound at 3:36 of overtime to give Malone a 6-5 upset of Canton, the top-ranked Div. II team in boys' hockey.

▶ Northern Adirondack's Troy LaPoint registers his 100th career wrestling win.

▶ Bob Brunell is presented the NASCAR Grand National North Sportsmanship Award for the 1991 season.

▶ Danielle Devins nets 17 points in Chazy's 42-37 triumph over Elizabethtown-Lewis.

▶ Seton Catholic's Suzy Paiser goes over 1,000 points for her basketball career in a 56-35 win over NCCS.

▶ Erin Sprague and Penny Venne lead Northern Adirondack to a 3-0 sweep of AuSable Valley, giving the Bobcats a perfect finish in volleyball.

25 YEARS AGO (1987)

E Eric Meigs and Andre Newell each tally 25 points in Clinton CC's 90-79 win over North Country CC. Teddy Holloman hits for 26 for the Saints.

▶ Lisa Corron contributes 18 points and 8 rebounds as Clinton CC tops NCCC 60-48. Kelly Hebert leads the Saints with 14.

▶ David Deyo drops in 31 points in Keene's 71-55 triumph over Indian Lake.

▶ Matt Nemier's two field goals in the third overtime enable Chateaugay to edge St. Regis Falls 50-48. Kevin Burke leads the Bulldogs with 23.

▶ MAI's Marc Lussier scores five goals in a 7-2 win over Saranac Lake and then Martin Labonte explodes for seven goals in an 11-3 win over Northeastern Clinton.

▶ Steve McCormick gets a hat trick and Sean McCarthy records 23 saves in Saranac Lake's 4-0 win over Lake Placid.

▶ Pat Patnode nets 25 points to lead Dannemora past Chazy 80-41.

30 YEARS AGO (1982)

▶ Kent Pulliam comes through with some clutch plays in overtime and Bill Brennan finishes with 22 points as Ticonderoga avenges its only loss, beating previously undefeated South Glens Falls 44-41.

▶ Former Beekmantown standout Garry Danussi earns his second football letter as a starting guard for the Norwich University Cadets.

▶ Tom Kelsh scores 22 points and plays his best game of the season in leading Saranac to a 58-44 win over Plattsburgh High.

▶ Pat Gallagher tallies 21 points and Tom Rivera, 19, as Chazy recovers after blowing a 13-point lead to beat Elizabethtown-Lewis 56-53 in overtime.

▶ Greg Fisher's goal eight seconds into overtime lifts Lake Placid to a 3-2 win over St. John's.

▶ Sophomore Chris Speziali tallies 23 points as Schroon Lake jolts Willsboro's title hopes with a 60-55 come-from-behind victory.

▶ Dan Fesette hits for 18 points and Mike Kasprzak, 16, to lead St. John's past AuSable Valley 56-53.

40 YEARS AGO (1972)

▶ George Sayward scores 18 points as Willsboro clinches the MVL title with a 72-69 win over Elizabethtown-Lewis. Pat Ward leads the Lions with 28.

▶ Pete Gath tallies 30 points in Schroon Lake's 66-64 triumph over Crown Point.

▶ Bill Maskell scores 24 points, Rick Morrison adds 14 and Bruce McDonough, 13, as Northeastern Clinton upsets NAC 70-64.

▶ Chris Murnane hits for 20 points in St. John's 67-54 win over Beekmantown.

▶ Freshman Butch Butchino gets 21 points and 21 rebounds to lead Saranac past Ticonderoga 78-58. Steve Parker chips in with 19 and Randy Carter adds 14 while Fred Hughes leads the Sentinels with 18.

50 YEARS AGO (1962)

▶ Alan Ubl captures the midget boys' trophy with three first-place medals in the Adirondack Outdoor Speed-skating Championships in Saranac Lake. Danny Gagne, Scott Burns, Mike O'Connor and Debbie LaBombard also earn medals.

▶ Pat Gregory scores 20 points and Bobby LaMare, 15, as St. John's downs MAI 56-41. Jerry Moynihan tallies 16 points for the Mounties.

▶ Larry Dominic, Charles LeClair, Mickey Spoor and Mike Marlow score pins for Ellenburg a 28-19 victory over Peru.

▶ Roger Hadley nets 15 points in Westport's 58-28 win over Keene Valley.

▶ Mickey Duntley scores 16 points and Leo Aubin, 15, to lead Elizabethtown to a 56-36 win over Willsboro.

▶ Larry LaBarge hits for 21 points to lead Ellenburg to a 70-55 upset of Altona.

60 YEARS AGO (1952)

▶ Ray Watkins drops in 23 points as MAI tops St. John's 58-45 to take over the Catholic East lead. John D. Ryan leads the Irish with 19.

▶ Freshman Bob Horstmyer of Dannemora is a member of the Colgate swim team. He also played freshman football.

▶ Ashlaw tallies 20 points and Dufour, 17, to lead St. Joseph's to a 54-51 win over Rouses Point. Collins and Duquette each score 15 for Rouses Point.

▶ Curtis nets 15 points, Bennett chips in with 12, Trombley adds 11 and Fuller, 10, as Keeseville upsets OLVA 59-46.

▶ Bill Hinerth scores 34 points to lead St. Mary's to a 56-51 triumph over Mooers. Rabideau leads Mooers with 14.

70 YEARS AGO (1942)

▶ Tony Livingston scores six points to lead St. John's past Plattsburgh High 20-17. Francis Steltzer nets eight for PHS.

▶ Curtin scores seven points and Cook, six, to give MAI a 27-20 win over previously unbeaten Dannemora. M. Ryan and McCorry each score six for Dannemora.

▶ Walter Church pilots the Monopole Bobsled Club team to a fifth-place finish in the National AAU four-man competition while Joe Church's team comes in seventh. Saranac Lake entries finish first-second with John Dewey and Alexis Thompson the drivers. Joe Meconi steers the Lake Placid Bobsled Club team to third.
