Chiefs earn third indoor track win

PLATTSBURGH — For the third time in as many meets this season, the Saranac boys' and girls' indoor track and field teams earned victories Saturday at the Plattsburgh State Field House.

The boys' team finished with a score of 166, with Ticonderoga taking second with 91, and Plattsburgh, third, with 75.5.

Micah Patterson was a triple winner for the Chiefs. He took first place in the 300 in a time of 37.8.

Patterson was also on the winning 3,200 and 1,600 relay teams. Heath Andre was a part of both teams.

Nick Dormann and Sean Tyrell were part of the 3,200 team (9:25.4), and Bill Badger and Ty Tedford made up the second half of the 1,600 squad (3:58.4).

Jake Spear captured wins in the long jump (20-7.5) and triple jump (47-7). Corey Duval earned the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 48-3.

Josh Wade was the final first-place finisher for the Chiefs, taking first in the 3,200 with a time of 10:52.

Jay Hebert was a two-time winner for the Sentinels. Hebert was victorious in the 55 hurdles (7.7) and teamed with Tanner Wright, Jarryn Granger and Coleman Granger to form the winning 640 relay team. The squad finished in 1:21.0.

David Ferris took first place in the 600 for Plattsburgh High in a time of 1:33.7.

Saranac Lake's Alex Beaudoin was the top finisher in the 55 in 6.7.

Seton Catholic's Evan Page won the 1,600, finishing in 4:59.2.

Bryce Schnaars and Will Thew each earned victories for Peru. Schnaars won the high jump with a height of 6-0. Thew was the top finisher in the 1,000 in a time of 3:00.4.

The Saranac girls' team scored 127.5 points. Plattsburgh High came in second with 106, and Peru took third with 70.

Alexis Bruno and Ellen Thew were each double winners for the Chiefs. Both were part of the winning 1,600 relay team that finished in 4:42.2 That team also featured Nicole Turcotte and Abby Cerne.

Bruno won the 600 (1:53.5) and Thew the 300 (44.8).

Morgan Kelly finished the 3,000 in 12:50.5 for the top spot, and Victoria Phaneuf's throw of 34-1.5 was good for first in the shot put.

Brooke Knight was a two-time winner for the Hornets, capturing the long jump (14-4.5) and the 640 relay. Along with Knight, Adrienne Nye, Anna Hewitt and Hailey McLaughlin finished the relay in 1:36.7.

Emma Deshaies was another winner for Plattsburgh High. She captured first in the 1,500 with a time of 5:06.8.

Sonja Brown, Taylor Durocher, Cheyanne Dobozy and Rebecca Romanowicz took first in the 3,200 relay for Peru in 11:30.2. Dobozy was also the top finisher in the 1,000 (3:29.3).

Vanessa Salamy took wins in the 55 hurdles (9.3) and triple jump (31-10.75) for Saranac Lake. Nicky Trudeau won the 55 for the Red Storm in 7.6.

Leann Cook was the lone first-place finisher for AuSable Valley. She grabbed first in the high jump with a height of 4-5.
