Don’t presume someone’s guilt in a case when it hasn't been established by a court.

Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

Saranac wins cross country meet

LAKE PLACID — Saranac captured six of the top 10 spots in the boys' Champlain Valley Athletic Conference cross-country race Friday to slip past Beekmantown, 28-29, and also capture a victory over Lake Placid.

Josh Wade took first in the race with a time of 18:20 for the Chiefs. Zack LaPage (fourth), Heath Andre (sixth), Ben Strack (eighth), Austin Medeiros (ninth) and Nick Dormann (tenth) to lead the way for Saranac.

The Eagles were paced by Matt Simpson's 18:29, good for second place, and Colin Quackenbush's 18:33, which placed him third. Jordan West (fifth) and Jonathan Graziane (seventh) also finished in the top 10.

Nick Stosiek paced the Blue Bombers for a 15th place finish in a time of 21:13.

Saranac also picked up a pair of victories on the girls side with Lexi Blockson, Tracy Rush, Taylor Manor, Renee Andre, Lexi Haley, Natalie Casey-Sanger, Morgan Kelly and Megan Liechty each finishing third-through-10th, respectively.

Lake Placid's Nina Armstrong captured first place in a time of 23:01.

Beekmantown's Maile Sapp paced Beekmantown to a victory on a day with a second-place finish in a time of 23:21.
