Don’t state as a fact something that is unsubstantiated or that our editors wouldn't know to be true.

Don’t presume someone’s guilt in a case when it hasn't been established by a court.

Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

We monitor comments Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Approval of comments outside these times may be delayed.

Willsboro women’s bowling league has openings

WILLSBORO — The Bouquet Valley Women’s League is seeking interested bowlers to join its Thursday night league. The league will hold its organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 6 at Willsboro Lanes and bowling will immediately follow.

All interested bowlers are encouraged to attend as an individual or a 4-person team. For more information, call the Willsboro Bowling Center, at 963-8983.

Bowl Mart Lanes has league openings

ROUSES POINT — Bowl Mart Lanes has openings for its fall leagues: Men’s Monday Night (starts Sept 10); Women’s Monday Night (Sept 10); Tuesday Classic (Sept. 4), Wednesday A.M. Senior (Sept. 5); Wednesday P.M. Mixed (Sept. 5); and Youth Saturday A.M. (Sept. 8).

Mountain Lake Services Triathlon Sept. 15

KEESEVILLE — The 14th-Annual Mountain Lake Services Foundation Triathlon will be held Saturday, September 15. The event features paddling, running and biking. There will be an Iron course and a Recreation course. Individual Iron and Recreational categories run all three legs. Teams may consist of two to four people.

Pre-registration for the event can be done by calling 546-3051, ext. 314. Registration on the day of the event will begin at 8 a.m. at Camp Whippoorwill on Frontage Road in Keeseville. The race will begin at 9 a.m.

Bowlers needed for Lucky Strike Lanes

MALONE — The following leagues are looking for bowlers to fill leagues at Lucky Strike Lanes: Monday Night Pioneer League (1 Team, 5 males; Tuesday Night Ladies Gateway (1 Team and individuals needed); Tuesday Night Men’s League (1 Team, 5 males); Wednesday Night Men’s Gateway League (individuals); and Thursday Night Bowling Belles (teams and individuals; teams consist of 5 ladies).

Benefit Beer Run scheduled for Monday

AUSABLE FORKS — A Beer Run, to benefit Holy Name School, will be held Monday, September 3. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Hollywood Theatre, Main Street, AuSable Forks, with the run starting at 9:30 a.m. The $15 entry fee includes the run and beverage.
