Welch Memorial Golf Tourney starts at 9 a.m.
ROUSES POINT — The shotgun start for Saturday’s Annual Jennifer Welch Memorial Golf Tournament has been changed from noon to 9 a.m. at the North Country Golf Club.
Purple People Eaters win in women’s hoops
PLATTSBURGH — Jade Pellerin scored 17 points and Megan Bowman added eight as the Purple People Eaters improved their record to 6-0 in the City of Plattsburgh Women’s Basketball League with a 51-29 victory over the Disco Ninjas. Nikki Dirolf talled eight points and Kate McCallister seven for the Ninjas.
Kristie Pageau tossed in 13 points and Chantel LaValley added 10 in Durocher Auto Sales’ 54-44 win over Saranac, which was led by Alicia Ducatte with 21 points and Stephanie Linder 13.
Nicky Viti-Duprey’s 18 points and Katie Munson-Duprey’s 11 paced the Bballin’ Mamas to a 52-26 decision over Glens Falls Toyota. Zoe Saulsgiver netted eight points and Shannon Curley six for Glens Falls Toyota.

Ride For Cancer set for July 28
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Hogs Bikers’ Club will hold a benefit ride for the North Country Cancer Fund on Saturday, July 28.
There will be a pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. at the American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh. Registration is at 10 a.m. and the ride starts at 11 a.m.
Lunch will be served between 2 and 2:30 p.m. with live entertainment. The will be raffles and an auction for the benefit.

LaValley gets hole-in-one
PLATTSBURGH — Floyd LaValley used a 7-iron to record a hole-in-one on the par-3, 16th hole at The Barracks Golf Course. It was LaValley’s first ace and it was witnessed by Tony Tarriconne.
Bluff Point junior member/guest winners listed
PLATTSBURGH — On Tuesday, July 24, McCullen Cope and Brendan Carnwright combined for a 1-under par 35 to take first place in the Bluff Point Golf Resort Junior Member/Guest Tournament. Second place went to Gavin Plimpton and Nate Devins, third to the Keating brothers, Chris, Mick and Jack, and their grandfather, Ed Rostak, and fourth to Jordan Guay and Dave Gordon.
Only four strokes separated the second- and fourth-place teams. A total of 18 golfers participated, and lunch and awards followed the nine-hole event. The junior championships in three age groups will conclude the summer program next week.
Bluff Point to host senior golf tourney
PLATTSBURGH — Bluff Point Golf Resort will be hosting a senior golf tournament on Aug. 23. It is the 15th-annual senior tourney and there will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Champions will be crowned in five age groups.
