Saranac youth soccer registration tonight, Thursday

SARANAC — The Town of Saranac will hold registration for mini-mite, mite and peewee soccer at the town hall from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight and Thursday, July 26.

A Youth Commission meeting will be held prior to tonight’s sign-up, starting at 6 p.m.

 

Peru YC holding soccer registration

PERU — The Town of Peru Youth Commission is holding ongoing registration for the fall soccer program at the town hall. Registration forms can be picked up and filled out from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, or downloaded from the Town of Peru website at www.perutown.com. All forms need to be completed and turned back into the town hall with a copy of the player’s birth certificate no later than Friday, Aug. 10.

 

Miners practice, scrimmage July 26

LYON MOUNTAIN — The Lyon Mountain Miners will have batting practice and play an inter-squad scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday July 26, on their home field in Lyon Mountain. All team members who can attend are asked to do so.

“Read” the Green golf tourney July 28

LAKE PLACID — The “Read” the Green Golf Tournament will be held at at Craig Wood Golf Course in Lake Placid on Saturday, July 28.

Golfers will tee-off between 7 and 9:30 a.m. The tournament will be an 18-hole, scramble format. Fees for the tournament are $40 for Craig Wood members and $60 for non-members, which include green fees, cart, lunch and prizes. All proceeds will benefit Literacy Volunteers of Essex/Franklin Counties’ Adult Literacy Programs. Call Jimmy, Craig Wood’s Golf Pro, at 523-9811 to register and receive tee-off time.

 

Barracks Member Guest tourney July 29

PLATTSBURGH — The Barracks will hold its annual Member Guest Tournament Sunday, July 29.

The event will feature, golf, carts, drinks, raffles and other prizes. There will be a men’s and women’s division. The format will be a “Projected Best Ball” format based on the players handicaps. Tee times will start at 9 a.m.

The cost is $80 per team and includes skins. Sign-up is at the club house or contact Mike Dodds at 593-2792 or golf0069@aol.com for more details.

 

Earle leads 36ers in Plattsburgh Men’s League

PLATTSBURGH — Ryan Earle and Tory Boyea each scored 21 points to lead the 4th Ward 36ers past Lashway’s Meat Market, 88-62, in City of Plattsburgh Men’s Basketball League action Monday.

Devon Anderson led Lashway’s with 18 points, and Ricky McCann added 14.

NCCS narrowly defeated Team Elite, 88-86. Tom Ryan led the way for NCCS with 22 points, while Matt Farbotko scored 19.

Dave Navarro (24) and Kyle Knight (20) paced Team Elite.

Mike Boyea dropped 27 points to help Chateaugay down Rand Hill Painters, 87-58. Jason LaPlante scored 21.

Alex Medina had 18 points and Jim VanArman added 14 for Rand Hill Painters.

T. Maliniak Masonry scored a close 76-72 win over CSEA Local 884, with Mike Medberry scoring 24 points and Andrew Castine, 22, for the victors.

Shavar Fields had 25 points for CSEA Local 884 and Travis Gorham added 14.

Sharrow sinks second ace

PERU — Dot Sharrow of Peru recorded her second hole-in-one at Adirondack Golf and Country Club on Monday, July 23.

She hit her ace on the eighth hole, using a 9-wood at 91 yards. Her husband, Gene Sharrow, witnessed the event.

 

9-hole golf outing set for Aug. 12

PERU — There will be a nine-hole golf outing at Adirondack Golf and Country Club on Sunday, Aug. 12, as part of the “Golph and Music” to celebrate the life of Patrick Gallagher.
