Soccer officials meeting set for Thursday
SCHROON LAKE — The Westport Chapter of soccer officials will hold its first meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Schroon Lake Town Hall.
Anyone interested in officiating should attend this meeting. Future meetings and the physical fitness and written tests will all be discussed at the meeting as well.

Zumba classes start Sept. 4 in Champlain
CHAMPLAIN — Zumba Gold-Toning classes will be held at Time After Time Reception (formerly the American Legion) starting Sept. 4. Zumba Gold-Toning offers Zumba fitness with moves and pace modified to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as the de-conditioned with the benefits of safe-and-effective strength training. Lightweight resistance training helps participants build muscle strength, increase bone density, and improve mobility, posture and coordination.
Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 5:45 p.m, and the cost is $4. Regular Zumba Fitness classes will follow from 6 to 7 p.m. for $5.

PSU tennis camp Aug. 20-24
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State Tennis Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 20 to 24 at the Field House. The camp will be directed by Plattsburgh tennis coaches Mark Stata, Matt Mero and Deb LaPorte as well as Plattsburgh team members. Indoor courts are available in the event of bad weather. The camp will be broken down into two groups: beginner and intermediate/advanced.

Adirondack Senior Open set for Aug. 27-31
WILMINGTON — The second-annual Adirondack Senior Open, part of the Sunbelt Senior Golf Tour, will return to the Whiteface Club and Resort in Aug. 27 to 31. The Sunbelt Senior Golf Tour includes players 45 years of age and older who are honing their skills for the Champions Tour.
The public is welcome to come out and watch all the action free of charge.
Defending Adirondack Senior Open Champion Javier Sanchez will be challenged by five-time PGA Tour winner Danny Edwards. Sanchez was among the players to compete at the U.S. Senior Open last month. Edwards will lead the free junior golf clinic at 5 p.m. Aug. 27. The clinic is open to everyone.
The tournament will again benefit the Adirondack Carousel and Community Center in Saranac Lake.
There will be a draw party business mixer for all professionals, pro-am players and sponsors at 6:30 p.m. Non-golfing guests from the community are invited for just $20. All sponsors and golfers are free.

Run for Jon slated for Aug. 25
PERU — The 22nd Annual Run for Jon will be held Saturday, Aug. 25 at Forrence Orchards on Mannix Road.
Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m., with the events starting at 5 p.m. Scheduled events are the 1.25 mile walk at 5 p.m., the kids fun run at 5:30 p.m. and the 2.5 mile Run for Jon at 5:45 p.m.
