Schroon Lake boys, ranked 13th, defeat Chazy for 12th-straight victory

CHAZY — Ian Williams scored a game-high 22 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference North Division champion Schroon Lake over Chazy, 55-35, Monday.

Jesse Shaughnessy chipped in with 14 points for the Wildcats (15-1, 14-0), who pushed their winning streak to 12 games.

Schroon Lake, ranked 13th in the state, outscored the Eagles 37-16 in the first and third quarters.

Brandon Laurin scored 14 points to lead the way for Chazy (5-10, 5-8).

Minerva-Newcomb 73 Indian/Long Lake 53

INDIAN LAKE — Morgan Winslow exploded for 31 points to lead the Mountaineers over the Orange.

Minerva-Newcomb (3-7, 3-6) held a three-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but outscored Indian Lake/Long Lake (2-10, 2-9) 29-11 in the quarter.

"It was a very close game and the lead changed several times," Orange coach Dave Olbert said. "Winslow had three or four steals to start the fourth quarter and they went on a 15-0 run.

"We just couldn't recover from it."

Austin Williams added 14 points for the Mountaineers while Yoon Jung chipped in with 12. Wesley Labar finished with 10 points.

Colin Farrell led the way for Indian Lake/Long Lake with 17 points. Matt Moore tallied 14 points while Henry Sandiford finished with 10 points.

ELLENBURG — Rodney Grimshaw scored 12 points to pace a balanced Cougars scoring attack in their win over the Bobcats.

Rob Armstrong and Tom Bedard each chipped in with eight points for Northeastern Clinton (10-6, 8-5).

"We had a really poor first quarter," Northern Adirondack coach Nate Bilow said. "We couldn't hand their pressure and just came out flat. We were not ready to play and they took advantage.

"Robb (Garrand) did a nice job getting his guys in there."

Daniel Burger led the way for the Bobcats (1-15, 0-13) with eight points.
