Rutherford nets rookie honors
CENTERVILLE, MASS. — Emma Rutherford of the Plattsburgh State women's hockey team was named ECAC West Rookie of the Week for the week ending Feb. 5.
Rutherford tallied five points on three goals and two assists as the Cardinals went 2-0-0 against SUNY cortland. It marks the second time Rutherford earned conference honors. She was named Player of the Week in November.
Rutherford leads all Cardinal newcomers with 11 goals and is ranked third on the team in points (17).
Volleyball Academy session Feb. 18
BEEKMANTOWN — The next Spring Volleyball Academy session will begin this Saturday, Feb. 18.
Registration is at 11:45 a.m. and will run from noon to 2 p.m. Athletes are not required to attend all sessions and may sign up at anytime.

North Stars players meeting Feb. 18
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh North Stars have scheduled a mandatory players meeting for all new and returning players for 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The meeting will take place at the Plattsburgh City Recreation Center located at 52 U.S. Oval. The North Stars, 11-3 last year and EFL Champions in 2010, are looking to add new players in all positions for the 2012 season that begins this summer. Anyone interested in playing or coaching should plan to attend.

Garrand named Athlete of Week
PLATTSBURGH —Clinton Community College's Katrina Garrand, a freshman criminal justice Major from Moores, has been named the Region 3, Division 3 Athlete of the week.
Katrina had a strong weekend considering she was guarded very tightly in both wins this past weekend against No. 2 Mohawk and Tompkins Cortland Community College. Against Mohawk, she scored 14 points and had rebounds, five Assists and three steals while turning the ball over once.
Against TC3 she scored 13 points and had four rebounds, nine assists and two steals while turning the ball over only twice. Garrand is in the Top 10 in Region III averaging 4.4 assists per game.
