Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Elizabethtown-Lewis took an early double-digit lead against Lake Placid Wednesday and was able to hold on 43-36 in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys' basketball.

The Lions (13-2, 11-2) took a 27-14 lead at the half and maintained that 13-point advantage heading into the fourth.

The Blue Bombers (6-8, 5-7), however, fought back in the fourth quarter, but their comeback fell just short.

"Lake Placid played a very good basketball game, especially in the fourth quarter," Elizabethtown-Lewis coach Ralph Holzhauer said. "We coasted more than we should have, but I give (Lake Placid) a lot of credit, they played hard."

Hunter Mowery led the way for the Lions with 19 points. Charles Huttig chipped in with seven points.

Logan Stephenson and Jacob Daniels each finished with 11 points to lead the Blue Bombers.

WELLS — Jake Earley tallied 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Indians held off the Orange.

Wells (3-7) took a 12-5 lead after the first quarter and was able to hold on to the lead throughout the rest of the game.

Matt Moore and Curtis Seaman paced Indian Lake/Long Lake (1-9, 1-8) with nine points apiece.

CROWN POINT — Nathan Tabor hit for 16 points and dished out nine assists in leading the Panthers over the Eagles.

Mike Gould chipped in with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Crown Point (8-4). Jake Courcy finished with 11 rebounds to go with his nine points.

Ryan Davis scored 13 points to lead the way for Westport (0-15, 0-13). Dominic Banish chipped in with eight points.

CROWN POINT — Willa McKinley finished with a game-high 26 points to lead the Eagles over the Panthers.

Allison Sherman chipped in with 14 points for Westport (14-1, 12-1), who outscored Crown Point (9-6, 8-4) 27-8 in the first and third quarters.

Marissa Titus led the way for the Panthers with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Amanda Wolf and Julianne Glebus each chipped in with eight while Wolf pulled down 13 rebounds.
