Tolosky's strong day helps PHS to victory

PLATTSBURGH — Jack Tolosky scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead the Plattsburgh High School to an 8-2 non-league hockey win over South Glens Falls on Saturday.

Marshall Maynard tallied two goals, while George Williams, Eric Bechard and Alex Maston also scored for Plattsburgh, which jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.

Rob Knowles, in addition to picking up two assists, turned aside 17 shots in the PHS nets.

Brandon Murphy scored both goals for South Glens Falls.

The Hornets return to CVAC play on Tuesday in Lake Placid.

Westfield 4 Lake Placid 1

LAKE PLACID — Chris Sullivan and Mike Santinello scored goals 12 seconds apart late in the second period to help lead Westfield, Mass. to a win over the host Blue Bombers in the championship game of the Lake Placid Winter Carnival Tournament.

Sean Spohr and Conor Larnway also scored for Westfield.

Troy Jacques' goal gave the Blue Bombers the lead in the first period before Spohr tied it two minutes later. Sullivan's second-period goal then put the visitors ahead to stay.

"If we could have held on late in the second, it might have been a different game," Lake Placid coach Keith Clark said. "But they were coming at us pretty good.

"They're usually one of the best teams in western Massachusetts and our guys had a little letdown from the night before. But we did a nice job competing and it was a good weekend for us."

Jeffrey Smith made 25 saves in net for the Blue Bombers (12-4-1).

Consolation Saranac Lake 5 Shaker-Colonie 4

All-tournament selection Devin Darrah scored three goals and assisted on another as the Red Storm rallied to a win.

Matt Phelan and David Cluckey also tallied goals for Saranac Lake, which fell behind 2-0 and then 3-1 in the first period.

Mike Mineau scored the first two Shaker-Colonie goals and Joey Chiara also tallied in the first period to give the visitors a 3-2 lead after one.

Darrah, Phelan and Cluckey then all tallied in the second to give Saranac Lake a 5-3 advantage. There was no scoring in the third.

Patrick Woodward and Blake Darrah combined for 30 saves in the Saranac Lake nets, with Darrah in goal for 23 of those.

"We were playing behind in the first period and behind the eight-ball right away," Saranac Lake coach Will Ellsworth said. "The kids overcame a lot of adversity to come back."

NCCS 3 Franklin Academy 2

ROUSES POINT — The Cougars (10-7) scored all three of their goals in the second period for a nonconference win.

Alex Duffy scored the game-winner 10:23 into the second period. After Ryan Marks won a faceoff, he passed to James Guay. Guay fed Duffy, who sent it through the goalie's legs.

Marks finished with a goal and an assist, James Guay had two assists and Kastle Birch also scored for Northeastern Clinton.

"It was a really gritty game for us because we have a bunch of guys out for various reasons," Northeastern Clinton coach Rob Francis said. "The underclassmen really stepped up and played well."

Tanner Studlack and Bailey Conklin had goals for the Huskies.

Cody Gnass turned away 13 shots in net for the Cougars. Joey Brown had 34 saves for Franklin Academy.
