Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

We monitor comments Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Approval of comments outside these times may be delayed.

WELLS — Shonna Brooks scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Elizabethtown-Lewis past Wells, 50-26, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls' basketball Saturday.

The 15th-ranked Lions (14-2, 11-1) used an 18-13 second quarter to begin to pull away.

Lily Whalen chipped in with 10 points for Elizabethtown-Lewis.

Karlie Tomlinson paced Wells (2-10) with eight points. Sam Zemken chipped in with six points. Macala Vrooman finished with eight rebounds.

PLATTSBURGH — Brin Keyser scored 10 of her team-high 13 points to help lead the Hornets to their sixth consecutive victory.

Olivia Carlsson chipped in with 12 points for Plattsburgh (7-7, 7-5) while Marle Curle finished with 11 points.

"Saranac Lake was without two starters, but they played well, especially in the first half defensively," Hornets coach Joe Staves said. "We had a great third quarter.

"This was the first game we had three people in double figures, so that was a real pleasant surprise and hopefully that continues."

Regan Kieffer paced the Red Storm (6-9, 5-8) with 11 points.
