CHAZY — The Beekmantown girls' hockey team played to its potential Friday night.
Five players scored a goal each as the unbeaten Eagles skated to a 5-0 victory over Albany Academy in the Upstate High School Hockey League Tournament quarterfinals.
"It's the fourth-straight year we've made it to the Final Four and we've been to the finals twice," Beekmantown coach Ray Guay said.
"We're overjoyed. We came out tonight playing like we can. Even though Albany was a threat, I had a deep bench and we used it. We wore them out."
Jessica Huber and Kallie Villemaire scored in the first period for Beekmantown, while Lauren O'Connor, Brielle Carnright and Kirsten Doran tallied in the second.
Doran and Amy LoTemplio each added two assists.
"The defense got in on the scoring, which is always good," Guay said. "Doran and Amy (LoTemplio) are defensemen.
"We worked as a fully-functioning team tonight right from the drop of the puck. We put pressure on them all night. We played three full periods and to get where we want to be, we need to do that."
Christina Emery recorded the shutout in net for the Eagles with 11 saves. Beekmantown held a 39-11 advantage in shots on goal and Shannon Zoe stopped 34 shots for Albany Academy.
The Eagles (18-0-2, 16-0-2) will likely play either Oswego or Alexandria Bay in the Final Four semifinals.
