Chamber of Commerce golf tourney Friday
PERU — The Northern Insuring/North Country Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic will be held Friday, July 13 at Adirondack Golf and Country Club.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., the tournament begins at 10 a.m. and a post-tourney feast will follow.
More than $1,800 in prize money will be awarded, along with numerous prizes at each hole sponsored by Chamber members. Two team spots are still available. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 563-1000.

Drown Construction unbeaten in women’s hoops
PLATTSBURGH — Emily Decker scored 18 points and Courtney Drown added 14 as Mark Drown Construction (5-0) remaining unbeaten in the City of Plattsburgh Women’s Basketball League with a 48-38 win over Glens Falls Toyota on Tuesday night. Zoe Saulsgiver and Erica Johnson each scored 10 for Glens Falls.
Danielle Parks tossed in 12 points and Kaitlyn Kirk followed with 11 in Durocher Auto Sales’ 51-35 victory over the Disco Ninjas, which was led by Kara Stark with 18 points and Kayln Harris with 10.
Katie Munson-Duprey poured in 23 points and Nicky Viti-Duprey added 14 in B’Ballin Mamas’ 57-48 decision over Saranac. Marle Curle led Saranac with 20 points.

Bluff Point Juniors hold annual scramble
PLATTSBURGH — The Bluff Point Junior Golf Program recently held its annual scramble tournament.
The first-place team included Lucas Wood, Gavin Plimpton, Matt Svarplaitis and Jack Keating. Second place went to Nick Dodd, Mitch Maggy, Declan Giltz and Conner McSweeney. Two teams for third place, including the foursome of Joe Zalis, Nic Favreau, Nick Keating and Mason Barber, and the team of McCullen Cope, Jordon Guay, Chris Keating, Conner Giltz and Jeremy Davis.
A pizza party followed play. The next junior event will be the member-guest on July 24. All juniors are encouraged to invite a guest for the day.
Algonquin chapter to hold ride on Friday
PLATTSBURGH — On Friday, the public is invited the join the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club for a bike ride on Cumberland Head. The ride will go around Cumberland Head, starting from the Crete Civic Center. It is considered an easy ride. For more information, call Anne Bailey, at 563-5794.
Winners listed in Another 18 With Mike golf tourney
PLATTSBURGH — Joe Akey, Matt Davis, C.J. Garcia and Steve Monahan took home the Carp Cup as winners of the Another 18 With Mike Golf Outing, held in memory of Michael Carpenter on July 7 at The Barracks Golf Course. The foursome shot a tournament low of 57.
In the men’s division, the team of Dave Abernethy, Todd Ransom, Mike Bousquet and Jeff Burns took second place after winning a tie-breaker over the team of John Carpenter, Adam Sherman, John Peterman and Matt Rogers. Both teams shot 58. Doc O’Connor, Larry Jeffords, Mike O’Connor and Mike Flynn finished fourth with a 60 in a three-way tie-breaker.
On the women’s side, Gale Carroll, Phoebe Sturm, Katie Gluck and Barb Maille won in a tie-breaker over Kathy O’Connor, Judy Jeffords, Carol Jerry and Donna Belanger. Both teams shot 68. In the mixed play, Bob Pooler, Barb Pooler, Warren Bennett and Kathy Bennett were first with a 64, followed by Dave Vivian, Delores Vivian, Bob Zuckerman and Katie Zuckerman with a 65, and John Filosi, Billy Filosi, Christin Folosi and Tony Vespari with a 69.
Abernethy won the men’s closest to the pin competition and Jerry for the women. The award for the hardest-working team went to Matt Jenkins, John Jenkins, Harry Jenkins and Nathan LaPage, who shot a 79. The Peter Carpenter, Cindy Carpenter, Stefani Leonard and Chris Leonard team was recognized as the best dressed.
Mixed and women’s skins winners were Bridget Ellsworth, Kathy Phebus, Tracy Sherman and Pat Loughan, the Vivian/Zuckerman team and the Pooler/Bennett team. In the men’s skins, winners were the Akey, Davis, Garcia, Monahan team and the foursome of Mark Rogers, Jack Wanzung, Jim Kennedy and Todd Kathan.
The final drawing of the evening was for a complimentary entry fee to next year’s outing and it was won by Zach Latinville, Eric Henry, Mika Wahl and Pete Trippi.
Chazy schedules fall sports physicals
CHAZY — Chazy Central School will be conducting physicals for the upcoming fall soccer season on July 17, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Students in grades 7 through 12 can call the school at 846-7135, to be scheduled.
Beekmantown seeking girls’ varsity soccer coach
BEEKMANTOWN — Beekmantown Central School is seeking applicants for a girls’ varsity soccer coach. Interested applicants must possess or willing to become certified in CPR/AED and first aid. All candidates must have fingerprinting from NYSED.

Cougar soccer training camp to be held
ROUSES POINT — The Friends of N. Country soccer will be hosting a pre-season soccer training camp consisting of eight training/small field game sessions. Camp days are July 22, 25, 27 and 29 and August 5, 8, 10, 12 at the Rouses Point Recreation Center from 6 to 8 p.m.
This is a co-ed camp open to boys (U16) and girls (U17) who will be playing junior varsity or varsity soccer in the fall. Modified players will be accepted will be accepted at the discretion of the coordinator. A modified-only camp may be offered the week of August 19 if there is enough interest.
