SYRACUSE — Section III's Skaneateles ended Beekmantown's season Saturday with a 3-0 victory in Class B the regional volleyball playoffs at Jamesville-DeWitt High School.

Unbeaten Skaneateles, which is 21-0 on the season, won by games scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-16.

The hosts got strong play from their five seniors, especially Ryan Merle, Emily Wood and Katharine Hill, who combined for 20 kills and seven blocks.

Defensively, the Eagles were able to keep up with the quick tempo offense of Skaneateles, with Kelsey Barnes recording 22 digs, Brittany Lapham 13 and Alyssa Momot, 10.

Jenna Brault, who recorded a team-high eight kills, led Beekmantown with five points, while four other players added four apiece. Lapham also had 16 assists.

The Eagles, who won the CVAC championship and Section VII title, for the first time since 1997, ended their season with an 18-2 mark.

"We have only four seniors graduating from the 17-player roster," said Beekmantown coach Shana Hileman. "The underclassmen are a great group of athletes who are already training and preparing for the 2010 fall transition season."
