Rouses Point holds public skating, open hockey

ROUSES POINT — The Rouses Point Civic Center will hold public skating and open hockey in February.

Public skating will be offered from 4 to 5:20 p.m. on Feb. 1, 6, 8, 10 and 15. It will be held from 5 to 6:50 p.m. on Feb. 11 and 18.

Open hockey is offered from 9:30 to 11:20 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Admission is $5.

Winter Adventure Race Series cancelled

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau and Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department have cancelled their Winter Adventure Race Series. Icy park conditions have made running at the parks unsafe for participants.

A Spring Fun Run Series will begin in April and May — keep an eye out for more information on dates and times as April approaches. For additional information, call the Youth Bureau Offices at 565-4750.

Lake Placid Loppett postponed

LAKE PLACID — Due to the current snow conditions, the 30th Lake Placid Loppet has been postponed from Feb. 3-4 to March 9-10.

TrailGroomers meeting Feb. 1

REDFORD — The TrailGroomers Snowmobile Club meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Big Daddy's Restaurant in Redford.

Open pistol training on Wednesdays

PLATTSBURGH — Starting this week, the Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club will be holding open pistol at 7 p.m. and self defense pistol training at 8 p.m. on Wednesday nights.

Lake Placid supporting cancer research

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Blue Bomber basketball teams will be supporting cancer research this week at their games this week.

The teams will be raising money for the Merill Cancer Center of the Adirondack Health Services Hospital in Saranac Lake. There will be a donation jar at the entrance to the games as well as a "chuck a duck" competition at halftime of the varsity games. There will be pink Coaches vs. Cancer T-shirts on sale for $15 at the games.

The admission to the games will be $1 for students and $2 for adults.

Tuesday, Jan. 31: Modified girls vs. Seton Catholic, 5:30 p.m.; Varsity girls vs. Seton Catholic 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 1: Modified boys vs. Willsboro 4:00; JV boys vs. Willsboro 5:30; Varsity boys vs. Willsboro 7 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 2: Modified girls vs. Saranac 4:30 p.m.; JV girls vs. Saranac 6:00 p.m.; Varsity girls vs. Saranac 7:30 p.m.

Siberian Rod & Gun Club holding bottle drive

DANNEMORA — The Siberian Rod and Gun Club will hold a bottle drive Feb. 3-10 at Maggy Pharmacy.

There will be a bottle redemption box at Maggy Pharmacy. Proceeds will be used to benefit the Building Fund. For additional information, call 492-7130.

Hockey group seeking goalie

ROUSES POINT — A Wednesday morning hockey group that runs from 9:30 to 11:20 a.m. is in need of a goalie. Cost to play is $5. For more information, call 335-9683.

Roughriders rifle team takes second

PLATTSBURGH — The Roughriders Rifle Team, sponsored by the Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club, placed second in week's one competition in the Vermont Winter Postal League. The team was led by Peter Visconti's score of 395.

Whitehall came in first, outshooting Plattsburgh by a 1571 to 1544 score. The league has a 10-match season that consists of 10 teams from Northern New York and Vermont. The Roughriders Rifle Team is a smallbore competitive team with both adult and junior members of the Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club.
