Heymann earns first All-America honor

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Plattsburgh State junior Mike Heymann earned his first All-America honor after placing seventh in the 5,000-meter run at Saturday's NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by DePauw University.

Heymann finished the race in 14:53.70, just under six seconds out of first place.

Heymann was not the only runner competing from the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Geneseo's Lee Berube, a former standout at Ticonderoga Central School, placed second in 14:49.96 and teammate Tim Chichester was 12th in 15:15.84.

St. Lawrence's Dan Ramsey provided Heymann with some friendly North Country competition and he finished fifth in 14:52.15.

Braun places 12th
GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Plattsburgh State sophomore Stefanie Braun placed 13th in the 5,000-meter run in her first appearance at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. Braun finished in a time of 17:51.14.

While Braun was the lone SUNYAC athlete in the women's 5,000, she was not the only runner from the North Country.

St. Lawrence's Wendy Pavlus, a former standout at Tupper Lake Central School, won the race in a NCAA Division III season's best of 16:59.40.
