PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton Community College men's soccer team was six minutes away from a win Wednesday night.
But Ebrina Bakarr's goal gave visiting Adirondack Community College a 1-1 overtime tie with the Cougars.
It was a scoreless game before Gabe Hynes put Clinton (1-4-1) ahead with 25 minutes gone in the second half.
"Kyle Reynolds sent in a low shot and Hynes was at the right place at the right time to deflect it in," said Clinton head coach Zac Eppler.
But Bakarr forced overtime at 39:00.
"The ball came in from the right side and there was a scramble in front," Epper said.
The Cougars, who held an 11-6 shot advantage, had to play a man down from the 40-minute mark of the first half the rest of the way due to a red card.
"We still outshot them despite being a player down," Eppler said. "We were unlucky tonight.
"We controlled most of the game and I felt it was one of the best games we've played so far. We passed the ball well, made the right runs and communicated well."
Justin LaVarnway recorded five saves in net for the Cougars, and Logan Haynes had seven stops for the visitors.
Defender Ryan Latinville and midfielders Hynes and Kyle Knight played well for Clinton.
