PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State tennis team rolled past Johnson State in its home opener Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Badgers 9-0.
Rachel Hodnett and Jessica Paquette led the Cardinals with an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles. The pair of Amy Rich and Samantha Fasciano followed at No. 2 doubles with an 8-2 victory. In No. 3 doubles, Caitlin Belladone and Jennifer Paull easily topped their opponents, 8-0.
In first singles, Rachel Hodnett defeated Johnson State's Kim Blakeman, 6-0, 6-0. Jessica Paquette recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rebecca Quarantiello in No. 2 singles. Meghan Ryan (6-0, 6-2), Samantha Fasciano (6-1, 6-1) and Jennifer Paull (6-2, 6-0) also picked up victories for the Cardinals.
Freshman Tedi Politano completed the Cardinals' second shutout with a 6-1, 6-2 win in her Cardinal debut.
Plattsburgh State begins conference play later this week when it takes on New Paltz Friday at 4 p.m.
