DELHI — The Clinton Community College men's basketball team was staying close to SUNY Delhi Sunday.
Until Jamal Little took over.
Little, a 6-foot-1 guard, scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as the Broncos defeated the Cougars, 58-45.
"Defensively, we were playing pretty well in our zone," said Clinton C.C. coach Kevin Daugherty. "But, then Little got hot and hit three three-pointers.
"We were down, 37-33, and it was stuck on that score for what seemed to be a long time. We were right there. But, then Little got it going."
SUNY Delhi went up by as many as 17 points before the Cougars cut it down to nine in the late going.
"They then made their free throws," Daugherty said.
The Broncos held a 26-21 lead at the half.
"Both teams were deliberate and were patient in running their offense," Daugherty said. "The first time we played them about three weeks ago at our place, they won 44-33. So, a low-scoring game was expected."
Travon Smith added 15 points and Eliot Watson nine for SUNY Delhi.
Justin Vice paced the Cougars with 13 points, while Stephane Alexander added 10 and Anthony Hodge, eight.
It was the second road loss in as many days for Clinton C.C. which dropped a 74-62 decision at Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Saturday.
"This was another tough road loss for us," Daugherty said. "We still have three more road games left, including at North Country Community College on Wednesday."
