PLATTSBURGH — Stephanie Moberg spent plenty of time in front of the net Saturday and had a hat trick to show for it.
Moberg finished with four points and Kate Fairfield and Teal Gove had a goal and an assist as Plattsburgh State earned a weekend sweep with a 6-1 win over Cortland.
Anne Loewen needed to make just eight saves to earn the win.
Plattsburgh State (17-1-1, 14-0-1 ECAC West) nudged its unbeaten streak to 11 games.
The Red Dragons (4-15-1, 3-10-1) pulled into a 1-1 tie in the first period for the second straight day, but Moberg said the Cardinals started Saturday's game with more energy.
"I think we moved the puck really well today, and we came out hard and determined," the senior co-captain said. "I think we did really well, considering it was the second day and we've had a lot of trouble in the past producing on the second day. So it was nice to bury a few."
After Friday's 8-1 win, coach Kevin Houle said the Cardinals needed to go to the net more, and that's how they scored all of their goals Saturday.
Moberg netted one 2:10 in, and after Cortland's Jeanna Dippel evened the score with a rebound goal, Moberg tallied again.
"Britt Meade made two great plays to feed the puck to the front of the net. And Kate Fairfield tipped the second one and it landed on my stick, so it was nice," Moberg said.
Moberg completed the hat trick with a second-effort goal in the third period. Meade's shot hit goalie Sarah Sitcov's chest, and Sitcov stopped Moberg's first rebound try. But Moberg knocked the second one in.
Moberg has at least a point in her last nine games and leads the Cardinals with 31 on the season.
Fairfield chipped a rebound over Sitcov's shoulder in the middle of the second for a two-goal lead. Megan DiJulio tipped in Erika Shaubel's shot from the point early in the third, and Gove later scored from right out front.
Meade earned two assists.
The Cardinals outshot the Red Dragons 20-2 in the second but put just one puck past Sitcov, who finished with 44 saves.
"Just keep firing. One of them's bound to go in," Moberg said. "I think a few shots were into the goalie, but once you start picking corners, it's a different game."
Plattsburgh State scored three goals on 13 shots in the third.
