CLINTONVILLE — No. 2 seed AuSable Valley had to battle its way into the Section VII Class C volleyball final.
Saranac Lake, the third seed, won the first and third games of Wednesday's semifinal match, but the Patriots claimed the last two, 25-13 and 25-17, to advance.
AuSable Valley will play top-seeded Plattsburgh High in Saturday's 3 p.m. championship game at Clinton Community College.
Noelle Miller slammed down 20 kills to lead the Patriots at the net. The sophomore played a strong all-around match, also recording seven points, five digs and a block. Jacquie added 27 digs, 13 points — including five aces — and five kills.
Miranda Sheffer chipped in 17 points, five aces, seven kills and 15 digs, and Alexandra Lincoln also served 17 points.
Emily Fountain led Saranac Lake with 13 points and 13 assists, and Nikkie Trudeau had 10 points, five aces and 12 digs. Shannon Stevens added 22 digs and nine points, and Nicole Viscardo recorded 10 digs and eight points.

PLATTSBURGH — Sophomores Kianna Dragoon and Deanna LaBarge powered the Hornets to a 25-17, 25-9, 25-17 victory.
Dragoon served 19 points, including nine straight to end the second game, and also had 25 assists and three kills. LaBarge dug up 12 balls, slammed six kills and served nine points.
"My team has kind of been up and down with our play, and (Wednesday) we brought it all together," Plattsburgh coach Vickie McMillan said. "Having a sectional semifinal is kind of like you get a clean slate. And they were up for the challenge."
Katie Cantwell added a team-high 12 kills, and Taylor Witkiewicz had seven. Katie Dwyer recorded 11 digs, and Kayla Boise chipped in 10.
Vada Loya had a strong game for the Cougars with 15 digs, and Ellen Reid, who also played well, served four points. Tori Duprey added 10 digs, and Kelly Rogers contributed eight digs and three kills.
