Miners dinner Saturday
LYON MOUNTAIN — The Lyon Mountain Miners baseball team's roast beef dinner, to benefit the baseball field, will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at American Legion Post 1623. The cost is $9 for the all you can eat meal. Take-outs will be available.
The latest Miners' apparel will be on sale, including hats, t-shirts, coats, sweatshirts, etc. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.
North Bowl Challenge set
PLATTSBURGH — North Bowl Lanes, Direct TV and Clear Shot Satellite will be holding a Doubles Challenge Sunday at North Bowl Lanes. There will be a qualifying shift at noon. First place, based on 32 entries, will be $750.
Entry fee is $100 per team. Handicap is 80 percent of the difference in the team average and 440, with a maximum of 64 pins per game. The team cap for this tournament is 440.
Scratch jackpots and brackets will be available. Drawing for assigments will be at 11:30 a.m. There will be no refunds for no shows. For more information, contact North Bowl Lanes, at 561-1690. The tournament directors are Bob Munson, John Munson and Bob Trombley.
PHS Booster Club to meet
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh High School Booster Club Meeting is set for 7 p.m. in Room 310 on Monday, May 2. Enter the school at the back parking lot near the tennis courts. New members are welcome.
Rod, gun meeting May 3
DANNEMORA — The Siberian Rod & Gun Club will meet on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse.
Schuyler Falls deadline near
PERU — The Town of Schuyler Falls Recreation Department is in the final days for accepting registration for its baseball, softball and t-ball programs. The programs are open to town youths ages 4-16.
Registration forms can be picked up at the town hall, Rock's Grocery and Tops Market (Irish Settlement Road) or online, at @http://www.schuylerfallsny.com. All forms must be completed and returned to the town hall by the end of the week.

PSU hockey in hoops game
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State men's hockey team will oppose the Seton Catholic faculty and friends in a benefit basketball game at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 at the Seton High School gym.
Admission is $1 for students and $2 for adults. There will be raffles available and proceeds will benefit the Seton Catholic Booster Club. PSU hockey players will be signing autographs following the game.
Tennis banquet May 15
PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Tennis Association (NCTA) will hold its annual banquet Sunday, May 15 at The Barracks Golf Club. Warm-up will be from 6 to 7 p.m. with dinner and a brief meeting to follow.

Conditioning camp set
PLATTSBURGH — J&B's Strength and Conditioning 2011 is set to be held at CV Fitness. Camp dates are Monday through Thursday for weeks beginning June 27, July 5 (Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday only), July 11, July 18, July 25 and Aug. 1. Sessions begin either at 8 a.m. or 9:15 a.m. and run for an hour and a half. Athletes ranging from age 9-college age may join for any or all of the 6 weeks of training. The camp focuses on proper lifting technique, speed training and core strength including power lifting to help in sports performance in all aspects of sports.

Hockey camp slated
PLATTSBURGH — The 2011 American North Sports Center Mite Age Summer Hockey Camp will be held Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 29.
The camp is aimed at players ages 6 through 8 (birth years 2002, 2003 and 2004) or designed for mite and cross-ice players from the 2010-11 hockey season. It will include 2 hourse of on-ice instruction, fun off-ice activities, lunch and snacks daily (included in the camp price).

Placid Marathon June 12
LAKE PLACID — Registration for the June 12 Lake Placid Marathon is still open, with less than 50 slots remaining for the 26.2 mile race, and the popular 13.1 mile half marathon filling at a record pace.

White Water Derby May 7-8
NORTH CREEK — The 54th White Water Derby will test paddlers' skill in the slalom race Saturday, May 7 and the downriver race Sunday, May 8.
Registration for Saturday's novice and giant slalom races, as well as the Chuck Severance flat water race, occurs at 9 a.m. in North River; races begin at 11 a.m. Multiple classes for kayaks, covered canoes and open canoes are available. An awards party will be held at the Copperfield Inn from 4 to 7 p.m.
Sunday's down river race starts in North Creek and runs seven miles to Riparius through several rollicking good rapids. Registration is at 9 a.m. at the North Creek train station. Awards will be presented at Riverside Park in Riparius after the race.

Auto, vintage sled show set
LYON MOUNTAIN — The Barry O'Brien Scholarship Fund will be hosting the 2nd-Annual Iron City Auto and Vintage Sled Show from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 11 at 2517 Standish Road. The proceeds will benefit the O'Brien Fund at Northern Adirondack Central School.
Registration for autos will be $10 per car. Sled owners can register an unlimited number of sleds for $20. The day's events will also include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, children's activities and live entertainment. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.
