Terrance claims 358 mod win at MIR

AKWESASNE — Gage Morin jumped out to the early lead in the 358 Modified race with a three-week-old car Friday night at Mohawk International Raceway and looked to stake his claim in victory lane.

But it just wasn’t his night.

Carey Terrance snatched the lead just after the halfway point in the race and never looked back, claiming his first win of the season.

Chris Raabe finished second, and Matt Billings took third. Morin finished the race in fifth.

In the Sportsman division, Dylan Evoy was able to survive a pair of late-race cautions to claim his eighth victory of the season.

Evoy began the night with his second-straight track title in hand.

He passed Josh VanBrocklin, who had led the race since taking the top spot away from Jenna David on lap 2, in lapped traffic with eight laps remaining.

Dana Aikins finished third.

In the Pro Stock division, Stephane LeBrun crossed the line first after pouncing on Allen Peters four laps into the 20-lap race.

LeBrun held his lead after a lap 6 restart, though LeBrun, Dion Oakes and Jody Swamp ran nose-to-tail for the final eight laps.

Oakes and Swamp finished second and third, respectively.

In the third round of the 97.3 CKON FM Mod Lite Series, Bryan Green led the first and final laps, though his journey to his sixth win of the year wasn’t run exclusively from first place.

Green spun by himself along the frontstretch on lap 3, sending himself to the back of the field. While Rejean Lemieux, Scott Waldorff and Sylvain Laframboise battled at the front of the field, Green charged through the field, taking the lead back from Waldorff on lap 17.

Jim Bogett finished second, and Lemieux finished third.

In the Bandit division, Mathieu Aubin cruised to his fifth-straight win and seventh victory overall this season.

Aubin started seventh but by lap 5 was in the second spot. He passed Jean Marc Larose for the lead with five laps to go and pulled away from the field.

Larose finished second. Darryl Mitchell was third.
