---- — Muscular Dystrophy Bowl-a-Thon scheduled Nov. 4
PLATTSBURGH — The National Association of Letter Carriers will be hosting its 4th Annual Muscular Dystrophy Bowl-a-Thon Sunday, Nov. 4 at North Bowl Lanes from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost for two games with food and beverage is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 years or younger. There will also be a raffle of locally donated items. To pre-register, call Chris Jackson at 572-4716 or show up a half hour prior to the event.
Field House announces public skating dates
PLATTSBURGH — Officials at the Plattsburgh State Field House have announced public skating sessions for the remainder of 2012. Public Skating sessions will take place at 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on the following dates: Oct. 27 and 28, Nov. 11, 18, 24, and 25 and Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 30. Admission is $2 for the public and $1 for SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty and staff with valid college identification. Skate rentals are available at the same rates.
Barracks golf tournament Oct. 28
PLATTSBURGH — Barracks will host a two man scramble tournament on Oct. 28 with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The format is a two man scramble handicap divided by four. The cost is $50 per team which includes skins. Green fees & cart for non-members is now $20. Players over 65 can play from the senior tee if that is where their handicap has been established. Great Pumpkin Prediction race to benefit Family Promise set for Oct. 27
PLATTSBURGH— The Great Pumpkin Prediction Race which is a run/walk to benefit Family Promise will take place Oct. 27 at the Crete Civic Center.
Registration will be from 10 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. The race begins at 12 p.m.
There are two courses to participate on with the short course being between 3-3.25 miles and the long course being between 6.25-6.5 miles. Race day registration is $30 for all participants. Walkers are welcome on the short course only and you must be able to complete the course within the two hour time restriction.
Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be awarded for costume categories. Race day registrants will get participant shirts while supplies last. All participants must complete the course in two hours or less to be eligible for winner prizes. Event timing and entertainment provided by ARE Event Productions. No timing devices, iPods, or music players are permitted.

Indoor rifle and pistol range open Saturday
PLATTSBURGH — The Indoor rifle and pistol range at the Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club will be open Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. for open shooting. Equipment is available for loan. For more information about the club or membership to the Rough Riders Rifle Team, call Norbert Yakey at 298-5161.

North Country Community College golf results
LAKE PLACID — North Country Community College hosted its first championship meet at Craig Wood Golf Course for the Mountain Valley Conference. The Saints finished fourth in the conference with a 10th place showing at the event and became nationally ranked for the first time in the team’s brief history. The Region III meet will be at Proctor Park in Utica Oct. 27 and the national meet is Nov. 10.
