10 YEARS AGO (2000)
Chris Clark scores 18 points and Josh Harmsen, 16, as Saranac Lake knocks off previously unbeaten Saranac 64-54.
Jeff Ross pours in 30 points and Brian Pelkey adds 29 to lead Crown Point to a 69-60 win over Westport in a battle for the MVAC North lead. Adam Kelly-Mudie leads the Eagles with 12.
AuSable Valley's Gayle Peryea scores 30 points to pass Saranac's Ann Parks (1,459) as the CVAC's all-time leading scorer with 1,465 points.
Beekmantown's Chris Gadway is named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in leading the Eagles to the North Country tournament crown.
Jesse Lawrenz scores 3 goals and Nick Gomez gets the game-winner as Saranac edges Northeastern Clinton 4-3 in its CVAC hockey debut.
20 YEARS AGO (1990)
Chris Reynolds comes up with 3 steals midway through the fourth quarter to rally Chateaugay past Edwards-Knox 65-53. Andy Hollinshead leads the Bulldogs with 18 points while Greg Fall chips in with 14 and 10 rebounds.
Former MAI star Mike Shene scores 20 points to lead SUNY Albany past Plattsburgh State 80-68.
Frank Gilbo scores 25 points to lead Moriah to a 64-63 upset of Saranac. Dan Smith leads the Chiefs with 30 points.
Chadd Cassidy scores 3 goals in Seton Catholic's 8-1 win over Watertown while Chad Welch gets a hat trick in Northeastern Clinton's 6-5 win over Indian River.
Corey Cole scores 27 points and grabs 17 rebounds to lead Elizabethtown-Lewis over Keene 76-50. John Blades adds 21 points and 12 rebounds. Josh Feitshans leads the Beavers with 17 points.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Katie Ryan scores 20 points and Becky Trudeau, 13, as Saranac beats St. John's 51-43 in a battle of unbeatens.
Chuck Frost sets a Keene school record with 31 rebounds in an 81-56 win over Long Lake. Andy Dumas leads the Beavers with 25 points.
Erik Plimpton, David Parker and Tony Montemorra lead Peru to a 27½-point victory over White Plains in the 16th Peru Wrestling Classic.
Lake Placid junior Bambi Reid is named to the U.S. National Outdoor Speedskating Team.
30 YEARS AGO (1980)
Roger Bonner's victory at 167 is key as Peru beats White Plains by 5½ points to win the 11th Peru Wrestling Classic.
Chris Bourgeois scores 6 goals as St. John's, the top-ranked team in the state, drubs Malone 12-0.
Charlene Palmer scores 30 points and Jill Sears chips in with 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead Clinton CC to a 69-31 win over Paul Smith's College.
Peggy Supernault nets 17 points to spark PHS to a 59-40 win over Chazy in CVAC basketball. Cheryl St. Louis leads the Eagles with 20 points.
Mike Maguire, Robert LaCombe, John Shannon, Pete Fitzsimmons and Shawn McGovern lead Malone to a sweep of Moriah, AuSable Valley and PHS in swimming.
40 YEARS AGO (1970)
Bob Hundson's pin at 145 spurs Ticonderoga to a 32-16 wrestling win over Warrensburg.
Bud Geoghegan is named pro at Bluff Point Golf & Country Club.
Mark Slattery scores 23 points and Al Beebie, 21, as Moriah rallies from 15 points down to beat PHS in overtime 77-76. Steve Wood leads PHS with 21.
George Huttig fires in 30 points and Kirk Jackson, 25, as Elizabethtown-Lewis upsets St. Pius in overtime 97-88. Steve Sweeney nets 33 for the Golden Knights.
John Moss scores 33 points to lead Chazy over Altona 60-48. Larry Vassar tallies 21 for Altona.
50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Lionel Miller hits for 27 as Mooers defeats Altona 74-47. Bill Corrow scores 21 for Altona.
Frank Woodward's 30-point effort paces Peru to a 75-59 win over Keeseville. Gary Ensign nets 20 for Keeseville.
Buddy DeCarlo, Bobby Smart, Bill Leahy and Bothwell Davis of the Plattsburgh Boys Club win bouts in the Vermont Golden Gloves. Edgar Jones of PAFB loses a controversial decision to Burlington's Bobby LeFebvre.
60 YEARS AGO (1950)
Leland Jubert fires in 36 points as Mooers drubs Morrisonville 86-18.
Les Fessette sinks a 60-footer with 21 seconds left to lift MAI over PHS 36-35.
Don Tolosky tosses in 26 points as Lyon Mountain tops Chateaugay 56-46 to hold onto the league lead. Paul Dupree scores 13 for Chateaugay.
Dermatis nets 16 for Ticonderoga in a 67-51 win over Diamond Match. Bill Raymond leads the Matchmakers with 15.
70 YEARS AGO (1940)
Gagnon scores 10 points and Sweet, 9, to lead Rouses Point past Mooers 43-14. Richards has 6 points for Mooers.
The 14-year-old Northern League votes 7-1 to disband over a move by Vermont teams to oust the Tupper Lake franchise and replace it with Glens Falls. The Plattsburgh Majors are the lone dissenters.
Chilton tallies 17 points in Ellenburg's 41-38 win over Dannemora.
