Dry Dock Open today at 1 p.m.

PLATTSBURGH — The Dry Dock Open will be held today at The Barracks Golf Course, with a 1 p.m. start. Golfers are asked to check in at noon. Tee assignments are as follows:

Weaver, Woodward win golf league

PLATTSBURGH — Marv Weaver and Frank Woodward combined to win the championship in the Dannemora Fun Golf League recently at Bluff Point.

Vern Malark and Bill Siskavich finished second, followed by Dick Becker and Wayne Marshall in third, Vince Lennon and Bernie LaMora in fourth, Bob Blair and Fred Blair in fifth, Bill Fornecker and Larry Blair in sixth, Billy Siskavich and Chuck Wood in seventh and Gib LaRose and Gerry King in eighth.

Deloria records hole-in-one

PERU — Plattsburgh's Bill Deloria used a three-iron to record a hole-in-one on the par-three, 112-yard 14th hole at Adirondack Golf & Country Club on Thursday. John Huru, Jack Snell and Fredrico Hauarte were witnesses to the ace.

NBT team wins golf tourney

SARANAC LAKE — The 4th-Annual Tupper Lake Golf Tournament, supporting the Adirondack Medical Center, consisted of 21 four-person teams and taking first place in Flight 1 was the NBT Team fielded by Julie Connors, Jim Connors, Chris Hay and Chris Stevens.

The Flight 2 winner was the Guidehouse Enterprises team of Richard Dechene, Ed Rockstroh, Kyle Kins and Stan Baburacki. Rounding out the competition was the Flight 3 winner of InSight Imaging featuring Terry Rabideau, Mark LaFountain, Melissa Reed and Ronald Reed.

The winner of the Taylor Made Burner Driver was Jeff Boushie and winner of the 50/50 Raffle was Nate Shaheen.

Bluff Point hosts tourney

PLATTSBURGH — The Development Corporation (TDC) hosted its annual golf tournament at the Bluff Point Golf Resort on Thursday. The outing included nine teams playing in a scramble tournament format, as well as a teaching clinic with Bluff Point Golf Instructor, Donald Bainbridge.

Taking first place was the team of Brian D'Aust, Jeremy Tucker, Mark Leta and Jim Salmon. Second place went to Ed Martin, David Champagne, Bob Butler and Joanne Knowlton and third to Stefan Baumans, Jarrett Cruikshank, John VanNatten and Larry Jeffords.

Individual awards included: Adam Coe, men's longest drive; Joanne Knowlton, women's longest drive; Bob Perkins, clinic putting challenge; and Keith Matott, clinic chipping challenge.

Law enforcement outing Sept. 20

ROUSES POINT — The 2nd-Annual North Country Law Enforcement Golf Outing will take place on Monday, September 20, at 10 a.m. at the North Country Golf Club.

All members of the North Country Law Enforcement Community, their friends and family are invited. It will be a best-ball format, with prizes for best score, closest to the pin, and longest drive. The $60 fee includes golf, cart, buffet, prizes, and refreshment.( NCGC members fee is $40).

Bechard gets second hole-in-one

ROUSES POINT — Claude Bechard used a five-wood to record a hole-in-one on the 14th hole at the North Country Golf Club. It was his second hole-in-one, the first coming in Florida, and was witnessed by Bev Bechard, Jen Trombly and Leo Trombly.

Northern Insuring team wins golf tourney

PERU — The Northern Insuring team of Ed Davis, Brian Lapier, John Davis and Warren LaValley combined for a 58 to take first place low gross in the 9th-Annual Plattsburgh YMCA/U First Federal Credit Union Golf Tournament.

The Abbott, Frenyea, Russell and Coffey team of Bob Frenyea, John Poissant, Dan Phebus and Noah Cooper was low net winners with a 56.

North Bowl classic league to meet

PLATTSBURGH — A meeting for the Monday Night Classic League, sponsored by Pepsi, will be held Monday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. at North Bowl Lanes.

The league is still looking for teams or bowlers. The first night of bowling is Monday, Sept. 13 and the league bowls every Monday. Teams consist of five bowlers per team, with a maximum team average of 1,000.

The league will feature a Kegel Sport Shot every fourth week. For more information, contact Jeff Mattioli, at 572-6102, or John Munson, at 493-5566.

North Bowl singles tourney Sept. 2

PLATTSBURGH — North Bowl Lanes will be holding a singles tournament 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 with a sign-up from 6-6:30 p.m.

All bowlers will bowl four games across eight lanes during qualifying. Handicap will be 80 percent of the difference in the bowler's average for last year (2009-10 season) and 230, with a maximum of 40 pins per game. If there is no 2009-10 average, then an average will be assigned to you by the tournament director.

After qualifying the field will be cut in half. Finalists will bowl one game and the field will continue to be cut in half after each game until there is a champion. One in every four entries will cash.

Cost is $30 ($10 bowling/$20 prize fund). The tournament will be bowled on the Kegel Turnpike oiling pattern. Side pots and brackets will be available. This is not sanctioned. Call John at 534-3713 with additional questions.
