Chazy sets starting dates for soccer

CHAZY — Chazy Central Rural School has announced starting dates and times for its fall soccer programs.

Practice will begin for varsity and junior-varsity teams on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Varsity girls will practice from 8-11 a.m.; JV girls from 9-11 a.m.; Varsity boys from 9 a.m.-noon; and JV boys from 9-11:30 a.m.

Modified practice will begin on Thursday, Aug. 23. Girls modified will practice from 8-10 a.m.; and Boys modified from 10 a.m.-noon.

All players must have a current physical to begin practice.

Drowne sets pace in weekly fun run

CADYVILLE — Jeremy Drowne continued to set the pace at the CVPH Fun Runs, finishing the 5K on Wednesday in a time of 17:06 at the Cadyville Recreation Center. Margaret Champagne was the first female finisher in 23:45.

Grant Moravec was first in the mile in 7:15, with Megan Liechty the first female in 8:40.

The kids’ quarter-mile and half-mile runs drew nearly 90 runners, with Brielle DeAngelo first in the quarter-mile and Zashon Abrams winning the half-mile.

The final run in the series, which is sponsored by the Town of Plattsburgh and CVPH, will be held at 6 p.m. next Wednesday.

Seton Catholic lists sports clearances

PLATTSBURGH — Seton Catholic Central has scheduled fall sports clearance dates with times. Athletes are to report to the school nurse’s office with their completed and signed forms given to them in June.

Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Football (merger with Plattsburgh High School): Friday, Aug. 10, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; First practice, Monday, Aug. 13, to be announced.

Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer and Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country: Wednesday, Aug. 15, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; First practice, Wednesday, Aug. 15, to be announced.

Girls Modified Soccer, Boys & Girls Modified Cross Country and Boys Modified Football (merger with Plattsburgh High School): Monday, Aug. 20, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., first practice, Thursday, Aug. 23, to be announced. 

 

Annual NYSEF summer benefit set for Saturday

LAKE PLACID — The New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) will host its 28th annual Summer Benefit, Saturday, Aug. 11 in the Turf & Field Club at the Lake Placid Horseshow Grounds, from 6:30-9:30 pm.

The evening program supports local youth and invites attendees to step into the past with wooden skis and leather boots, traditional European cuisine, cocktails, music and silent auction. It is open to ages 21 and up.

Advance purchase tickets are $80 per person, $150 per couple and $40 for ages 21 to 35. Tickets at the door will be $90.

NCCS sets dates for health forms, practices

CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton high-school and middle-school nurses will be available to accept interval health history forms, insurance forms, and emergency medication (Epi-pens, glucagon, inhalers) on the following dates and times in the middle school health office:

Aug. 10, 7 a.m.-2 p.m.; Aug. 14, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.; Aug. 15, 7 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Aug. 23, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Interval Health History Form must be completed in order for any student to try out for fall sports. All student athletes must have a current physical on file in the health office. Any student requiring medication must have doctor’s orders.

All athletic forms can be found at www.nccscougar.org/Athletics/Athletic_Directors_Page.htm. Only athletes that are cleared by the health office will be allowed to participate in athletics.

The athletic department will not hold a fall preseason athlete meeting. Once athletes are cleared by the health office they are to report to their first practice for tryouts. The first practice for fall athletic teams will be Aug. 15 and tryout times and locations will be:

Boys Varsity Soccer, 9-11 a.m.;Varsity Soccer Field; Boys JV Soccer, 8-10 a.m.,Varsity Soccer Field; Girls Varsity Soccer, 8–11 a.m., JV Soccer Field; Girls JV Soccer, 8-10 a.m., Modified Soccer Field.
