SARANAC LAKE — Saturday’s action at the Can-Am Rugby Tournament featured men’s and women’s divisional play, with teams trying to advance to today’s semifinal and championship matches.
Brockport scored two victories in the Men’s Premier Division, winning 12-10 over Old Blue and 44-0 over Mystic River. Brockport will play Mystic River, a 46-7 winner over Old Blue, at 3:30 p.m. today on Bloomingdale Field (Field 12).
In the Men’s Club Division, Bracket 1 winner East Side Hyenas will take on Bracket 2 champions Cave and Ditches in the championship match at 2 p.m. today on Bloomingdale Field (Field 12).
East Side Hyenas I scored wins over Amoskeag (45-0), Danbury (53-0) and New York RFC (29-5), allowing just five total points. Cave and Ditches defeated East Side Hyenas II, 12-5, then got wins over Buffalo (22-15) and Blackhorse (55-12).
Long Island RFC and Amoskeag will play in the consolation game at 10 a.m. at Saranac Lake Middle School (Field 1).
The Men’s Social Division featured four different groups and will have semifinals today to determine the two teams that will play for the championship at 11 a.m.
Group A winner SURAA and Group D winner Hartford play at 9 a.m. at Saranac Lake High School (Field 5).
Group B winner Misfits will square off with Group C winner Father and Sons in the other championship semifinal at 9 a.m. at Saranac Lake Middle School (Field 1).
Morris and Old Scarlett will play a consolation semifinal at 8 a.m. at Saranac Lake Middle School (Field 3). In the other consolation semifinal, Brooklyn takes on Brockport Black at 8 a.m. at Saranac Lake High School (Field 5).
Beantown and MBFG Wedding will play in the championship match in the Women’s Premier Division at 1 p.m. on Bloomingdale Field (Field 12).
Beantown got victories over Albany (62-7) and Keystone (43-14), while MBFG Wedding defeated Boston (47-0) and Olde Girls (5-0).
Albany and Boston will play in the consolation match at 10 a.m. at Saranac Lake Middle School (Field 3).
The Women’s Club Division features three different pools of teams and two championship semifinal matches — the winners advance to the championship match at 11 a.m. at Saranac Lake Middle School (Field 3).
Saratoga and Uticuse, both out of Pool A, will play square off at 8 a.m. at Saranac Lake Middle School (Field 1). Team Pretty, out of Pool B, will face Severn River, from Pool C, at 8 a.m. at Saranac Lake Middle School (Field 2).
Hudson Valley and Ithaca will play at 10 a.m. in the consolation match at Saranac Lake High School (Field 5).
Also featured today is the USA Women’s U-20 National Team exhibition game at 4 p.m.
