NCCS completes tennis sweep

LAKE PLACID — Northeastern Clinton captured the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference title in boys' tennis Monday.

The Cougars' 5-0 victory over Lake Placid, coupled with a Saranac win over Plattsburgh High, clinched the championship.

NCCS holds a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Chiefs.

The NCCS girls (6-1) lost to the Blue Bombers 3-2, but had already clinched the regular-season title.

Ryan Marks, Richie Collins and Adam Jennett won singles matches for the NCCS boys (6-1), and the team of Bobby Marks and McKenna Hunter, along with the team of Alex Guay and Adam Khater, won in doubles.

The Lake Placid girls (5-2) were led by singles victories from Georgie Knox, Natalia Smith and Georgia O'Leary.

The NCCS doubles team of Kristen Langr and Erica Sorrell won at No. 1, and the Cougars' No. 2 doubles team won by forfeit.

Doubles

No. 1- Langr and Sorrell (N) def. Hallowell and Morris-Downey, 6-3, 6-2. No. 2- Hogle and Cartier (N) win by forfeit.

Saranac 3, PHS 2 Saranac 3, PHS 2

PLATTSBURGH — Saranac swept the singles as the visiting Chiefs dashed Plattsburgh High's title hopes with a victory.

Shawn and Corey Bissonette and Dylan Christopherson won in straight sets to give Saranac (6-1) the singles sweep.

Danny O'Halloran and Shea Crockett won a three-setter at No. 1 doubles for PHS (5-2) with teammates Chirag Patel and Chris Gay prevailing at No. 2. Rachel Leitsch won in singles and Amanda Erickson and Beck Horton won in doubles for the Chiefs (4-2).

Marle Curle and Becca Duquette captured singles wins for the Hornets (2-6).

CLINTONVILLE — The Eagles swept the Patriots and improved to 6-2.

Emily Carlin, Bailey Waterbury and Olivia Wyand won singles matches.

Krysten Koktowski and Alexandra Provost won No. 1 doubles. Samantha Weaver and Savanna Dandrow took No. 2.

The Patriots (0-6) play the Chiefs today in Saranac.

Peru 5, NAC 0 Peru 4, NAC 1

ELLENBURG CENTER — Pat Daly and Keegan Parrotte rallied from a first-set loss to win at No. 1 doubles, giving the Peru boys (2-4) a sweep of Northern Adirondack (0-7).

The Peru girls (6-2) swept the doubles on their way to victory. Abby Higgins and Samantha Banker overcame the King sisters — Katelyn and Tessa — at No. 1 doubles. The Peru team won the first set, lost the second in a tiebreaker and then won the third.

Heather Kingsolver of Northern Adirondack won her No. 3 singles match.
