Westport girls remain unbeaten



ELIZABETHTOWN — Westport's tenacious defense held Elizabethtown-Lewis scoreless in two quarters Tuesday night on its way to a 50-9 victory in a non-league girls' basketball game.

The host Lions (3-4, 2-3) trailed 23-6 at halftime, but were outscored 27-3 in the second half.

Willa McKinley scored 13 points and Christina Sherman, 12, to lead Westport (9-0, 6-0). Kalika Hopkins came up with eight assists and six rebounds.

Claire Harwood extended her streak of scoring at least one three-pointer in each game for Elizabethtown-Lewis while Shonna Brooks grabbed 12 rebounds.

Austin Holbrook pitched in with 10 points and Cody Whitney netted 11 for the Beavers (2-2, 3-3).

Logan Stephenson led the Blue Bombers with eight points.
