Most Outstanding Wrestler Steven Bonville (130) and Matt Hamilton (119) win their weight classes and Joe Smith moves up 2 classes to place fifth at 189, helping Peru edge defending champ Greene in the annual Indians Classic.
Tupper Lake's Faith Bedore reaches 1,000 points for her career.
Westport's Juleigh Walker, in her first race back from a knee injury, takes a bronze in skeleton at Winter Park Utah.
Seton Catholic's Jason Jabaut is second in the high-school mile with a time of 4:13.16 while Ti's Sherry Ott places second in the girls' shot put with a throw of 38 feet, 8 inches at the Dartmouth Relays.
Keene's Emily Martin scores the first two points in the school's new gymnasium while Ed Sheldon nets 29 in the Beavers' 64-47 win over Johnsburg.
Bryan Benway hits a 3-pointer with 11 seconds to play and Kenny Bezio converts a turnover into 2 points as AuSable Valley rallies to defeat Northern Adirondack 55-53.
Chateaugay defeats Salmon River 85-33 for Coach Ron Boyea's 100th career victory.
20 YEARS AGO (1990)
Ian Breen nails a 12-foot jumper with 3 seconds left to give Saranac Lake a 57-55 win over AuSable Valley.
Jim Manchester scores 13 points as winless Peru shocks previously unbeaten Beekmantown 46-44.
Scott Gentiles hits a 3-pointer with 18 seconds to go and David Martin scores on a layup with 2 seconds to play as Elizabethtown-Lewis overtakes Crown Point 57-56.
Kyle Watson's 3-pointer at the buzzer lifts PHS to a 60-59 overtime win over Seton Catholic.
Eric Young's overtime goal and Kurt Weierstall's 46 saves spark Northeastern Clinton to a 2-1 upset of Malone.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Mike Spadaro and Randy Lantiegne each score 15 points as Saranac Lake beats St. John's 58-54 in its CVAC basketball debut.
Larry Liberty (112), Todd Barber (119), Don Barber (132) and Dan Bushey (138) record pins as Beekmantown beats Peru, 30-23, giving the Eagles their first win ever over Peru in wrestling.
Mike Renadette and Jimmy Bousquet each score 13 points as Saranac knocks off Beekmantown in overtime, 68-64. Doug Kimbler nets 13 for the Eagles, who are coached by former Saranac great Mike Ryan.
30 YEARS AGO (1980)
Dave O'Connell pumps in 53 points to lead the Woodmen of the World Comets to a 115-70 win over the Agway Chargers.
Steve Rolich, John Quinn and Derek Juneau score goals as St. John's nips Ithaca 3-2 in the semifinals of the Little Red Hockey Tournament. The Irish, behind MVP goaltender Bosco McKinney, go on to beat Potsdam 5-3 int he final.
Bonnie Covey scores 20 points and grabs 21 rebounds to lead NCCS to a 50-45 win over Peru.
Al Goldman and Robbie Spencer lead PHS to the CVAC swimming championship.
40 YEARS AGO (1970)
Randy Senecal scores 45 points in Clinton Community College's 80-76 loss to Columbia-Greene CC in the consolation game of the New Colleges Tournament in Saranac Lake.
Heavyweight Eugene Ayotte scores a pin in the final match, giving Peru a share of the Saratoga tournament title with Gloversville. Mike Bonville and Joe Duprey also win their classes.
Frank Yasment and Ray Petrashune each score 24 as Lyon Mountain edges Dannemora 79-78. Tommy Thompson leads the Black Knights with 23.
Tim McDonough pours in 29 points to lead St. John's to a 81-75 win over PHS. Dale McNally leads the Hornets with 23.
50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Jack Potter scores 23 points to pace unbeaten Plattsburgh State to a 96-83 win over RIT.
Fred Rescigno tosses in 22 points to lead MAI to a 74-57 win over St. Joseph's of Malone. Jim Seymour leads the Tide with 15.
Don Huntley scores on a tip-in and Roy White adds 2 free throws in the final minute to rally Westport to a 58-55 victory over Vergennes, Vt., giving the Eagles their 30th consecutive victory.
60 YEARS AGO (1950)
Hal McCready scores 24 points, Bob Baker chips in with 16 and Paul Sharron adds 14 in Plattsburgh High's 74-44 win over Chateaugay. McDonald leads the Ponies with 13.
Urgil Votraw nets 20 as unbeaten St. John's tops Malone 35-28. Loren Sousie scores 12 and Larry Furnia, 10, for the Huskies.
Don Tolosky fires in 27 to spur Lyon Mountain to a 60-43 victory over MAI. Tom Sullivan leads the Mount with 15.
70 YEARS AGO (1940)
Ralph Rowley scores 14 points, Bob Duquette, 9, and Bill Latvis, 7, as the Plattsburgh State Normal School Cardinals defeat the Alumni 40-24. Don Curtin leads the graduates with 11 points.
Saranac Lake's James Norman (intermediate) and Arthur Bulrice (junior) win division titles at the Central New York Speedskating Championships.
Dwyer drops in 20 points to lead Chateaugay past St. John's 20-17. Marcus leads the Irish with 8.
