WILLSBORO — Lucas Strong and Alex Hamel combined for 36 points and Willsboro used a strong second half to beat Chazy 48-38 in Tuesday's Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys' basketball.

Willsboro trailed by one at halftime and led by two heading into the fourth. Hamel scored 11 in the fourth and finished with 19 points. Strong totaled 17 points.

"We stepped up our defensive intensity," Willsboro coach Jim Spring said of the second half. "We started getting a more fluid offensive game. We went stale in the second quarter, fell apart a little. But in the third and fourth we had some good continuity."

Justin Drinkwine added eight points, five rebounds and six steals for the Warriors, and Alex Shepard pulled down 13 boards.

Shea Howley netted all nine of Chazy's third-quarter points and totaled a game-high 20.
