LAKE PLACID — Canton opened a 3-0 lead after two periods Tuesday night and then held on for a 3-2 victory over Lake Placid in non-league girls' hockey.
Madeson LaVigne scored a power-play goal — her first score as a Blue Bomber — and Megan Christy connected as Lake Placid rallied in the third period.
"We came back and put up a fight instead of giving up," said Lake Placid Coach Sandy Payne.
"It was our second game, but Canton's first. They came out a little bit stronger than we did. The first few shifts we were a little slower."
Marinna Flagg made 20 saves for Lake Placid.
The Blue Bombers opened the season Friday night with a 3-1 non-league victory over host Albany Academy.
Brooke Reid had a shorthanded goal to open the scoring. Louisa Sardella scored unassisted in the second and Brenna Whitney added a third-period power-play goal, set by Kendra Manning and Christy.
Lake Placid outshot Albany Academy 35-20 with Chelsea Preston making 19 saves.
