SARANAC LAKE — A cold-shooting first half cost the hosts Sunday afternoon as North Country Community College dropped a 74-64 decision to Suffolk-Selden in the championship game of the Saints Classic men's basketball tournament.
The Saints (2-4) fell behind, 30-16, at the half.
"We just didn't shoot the ball very well at all in the first half," said North Country C.C. head coach Chad LaDue. "I'm pleased defensively, but offensively we just couldn't get it going.
"And, we're so small that if we don't shoot well, we're not going to have a chance to win too many games."
Kyheem Green poured in 27 points to lead Suffolk-Selden. Scott Perry added 17, while Steven Edwards and William Slinkosky followed with 10 apiece.
Justin Poirier paced the Saints with 16 points, while Drew Boyea added 13 and Clinton Foster, 11.
North Country C.C. tried to make up the gap by hitting 12 three-pointers. Poirier connected on four and both Boyea and Foster with three apiece.
