MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. — Plattsburgh State had two all-region performers and scored 191 points to finish in sixth place on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Atlantic Regional Championships held at Letchworth State Park. SUNY Geneseo, which was the team runner-up with 74 points to regional champion Saint Lawrence (43), hosted the 42-school event. The Cardinals are still in contention for an at-large berth, with head coach John Lynch adding: "Our region is very strong — probably the toughest in the nation — so I'm hopeful that the National Selection Committee will award us a bid to the NCAAs."
Senior Jenny Schaffhouser and sophomore Stefanie Braun both earned all-region first team accolades. Schaffhouser led Plattsburgh with a time of 22 minutes and 15 seconds, which was good for seventh overall. Braun clocked 22:40.5 on the 6,000-meter course for 11th.
