PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Flag Football League playoffs will get under way tonight with regular-season champion E&E; Construction and runner-up Wooden Ski and Wheel earning first-round byes.
In quarterfinal play tonight at Penfield Park, third-seeded Budweiser will oppose the Coors Light Silver Bullets, the sixth seeds, at 6 p.m. with T. Maliniak Masonry, the No. 4 seed, playing fifth-seed Met Life at 7:15 p.m.
E&E; Construction capped off the regular season with a 32-0 rout of Coors Light last Sunday. Tanner Currier threw TD passes of 14 yards (to Neil Stevens) and 13 and 18 yards (to Glen Engstrom). Pat Clancy added a 8-yard scoring run with Craig Duprey hitting Tanner Currier with a 7-yard TD toss. Currier hooked up with Engstrom on an extra-point pass and Duprey hit Matt St. Clair for a PAT.
Engstrom picked off two Coors passes with Clancy, Duprey and Paul Bruno each intercepting one.
Tom Livsey's 20-yard pass to Chris Verkey gave Budweiser a 6-0 win over Maliniak's. Verkey also had an interception.
Nick LaBounty threw touchdown passes of 8 and 80 yards to Larry Cook in Wooden Ski and Wheel's 40-0 thrashing of Met Life. Mike Prior added a 6-yard scoring run. The winners also picked up two safeties and extra-point runs from Prior and Nick Furnia. LaBounty hit Chris Fish for PAT and Prior passed to LaBounty for a point.
Brandon Bruce had two interceptions for Wooden Ski and Wheel. Dave Bulriss had one for Met Life.
