Lake Placid, Chazy reach girls final

LAKE PLACID — Brenna Whitney tallied a hat trick to secure Lake Placid a spot in the Section VII Class D girls' soccer championship game.

The Blue Bombers shut out Wells 4-0 in Tuesday's semifinals and will take on Chazy at 5 p.m. Saturday at Plattsburgh High School.

Whitney scored just 4:31 into the game with an assist from Nina Lussi and tallied again seven minutes later from Danielle Lussi. Alex McFaddin made it 3-0 in the second half before Whitney netted her third of the night.

"We had some beautiful goals today," Lake Placid coach Olaf Carlson said. "The girls did a great job sending passes in and finishing up front. Our defense also put good pressure on Wells and cut off their scoring opportunities early."

McFaddin and Molly Ploof each earned an assist.

Elizabeth Leff needed to make just two saves for the shutout.
