PLATTSBURGH — Megan Maycumber poured in 24 points Sunday and Onondaga Community College pulled away to an 83-53 victory over Clinton Community College in women's basketball.

Brittany Cohen added 16 points and Cara Scalisi 13 for the Lazers.

Brittany Godreau led the Cougars, who were playing their season opener, with 11 points and Carissa Fournia added 10. Jellisa Curry added six rebounds, Fournia five and Johni-Rae Coryea four, with Coryea also dishing out five assists.

"We played real well for the most part — they are the defending Region III champions," said Clinton C.C. head coach Donna Dixon. "We were down, 42-28, at the half and then came out and played well at the beginning of the second half.

"But, they run people in and out and went on a run in the second half to break it open. They were very fast in transition and were able to get some lay-ups. It was a 15-point game with 11 minutes left. So, I was pleased with the effort."

The Cougars return to the court on Tuesday when they host Word of Life.
