Don’t presume someone’s guilt in a case when it hasn't been established by a court.

Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

Adult basketball league opens

DID YOU KNOW?


You can look back over the last 70 years at some of the area athletes and personalities who made headlines in area sports. Flashback will revive memories of great local athletes and outstanding team successes.

MALONE — Scott Poirier opened the Malone Adult Basketball League campaign in midseason form last week to lead HelmHaven Farms to a 91-85 victory over Mama's Milkers. Poirier poured in 32 points and was a perfect 15-for-15 from the foul line while teammate Chris Burdash dropped in 26 points with 7 3-pointers.

Dave Barnett nailed 9 3-pointers in a 32-point effort to lead Adirondack Energy to a 78-55 win over Drummer's. Dustin Stover chipped in with 21 points and 17 rebounds.

Chris and Mike Castine combined for 58 points to spur Chateaugay Bowl on to a 101-74 triumph over Cantwell & Cantwell.

The women also opened their season with Amanda Clark turning in a huge performance for Adirondack Chiropractice in a 47-35 victory over Mr. Bob's. Clark had 13 points, 21 rebounds, six assists and six steals.
